has been living a “What’s My
Line?” life as the nation’s
only hotel money washer,
providing clean coins for the
rich and famous staying at
the posh St. Francis Hotel.
“They tell me I’ve washed
$11 million in coins since
1962,” said Batliner, whose
78th birthday • which will

voted upon August 14 by the
people, is a purely
administrative function by
which the taxpayer pays the
one office all of its raxes and
the tax collector distributes
these funds to the proper
