The Town and Country
Garden Club of Coleman met
Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the J.A.B.
Miller Building. Everyone was
glad to get back together after
three months off for summer
vacation. New officers were
installed with Caroline Skelton
as President, Sue Shields as
Secretary and Eileen Morris as
Treasurer for 2013-15. There
were fourteen members pres-
ent and two visitors.
The program was brought by
Dr. Del Davis who showed pho-
tos from his recent trip to
China. The way of life and
environment was shown in the
beautiful gardens and designs
created by the Chinese. The
steppe farms grow corn and
wheat along with cotton.
These are small farms in com-
parison with farms in the
U.S.A. and farms are leased
and not privately owned. An

The TEEA is made up of clubs within each county who have edu-
cational programs and activities to help strengthen families and
communities. They support 4-H youth in county, district and state
activities. Club members also serve many volunteer hours in
these areas. Advisors for these clubs are county CEA-FCS
agents in the Texas Agri - Life Extension Service.
Good Neighbor Club is the TEEA club in Coleman County.
Advisor is Janet Nelson.
Good Neighbor Club is governed by the Coleman County
TEEA. This Association sponsors the Exhibits in the Bill Franklin
Center at the county Fiesta de la Paloma each fall. It also has a
fundraiser each year selling concessions during the county stock
show in January. From funds raised, the Association gives a

books will be wonderful!
So would pre-school Bible
material. The books don’t
have to be new, but any
books you have used to
teach pre-schoolers how
to read would be appreci-
ated. They also would
love to get Bible materials
suitable for early child-
hood because they are
allowed to use the Bible to
teach English. So if your
children have outgrown
pre-school books, any of
those books would be
wonderful.
If you want to donate
seeds or books to this
mission project, you can
leave them in my office at
First Baptist Church or
catch me around town
and I’ll make sure they get
to Tanzania via our

taught infant and child choking
rescue and CPR. They also
learn how a child’s age affects
how to care for them, how to
prevent problem behavior, how
to run their own babysitting
business as well as issues of
online and cell phone safety.
To graduate from the Safe
Sitter® course and receive a
completion card, students must
pass a rigorous practical and
written test that indicates their
mastery of key concepts and
life and safety skills.
