Camp Sweeney Diabetic Training
Center for diabetic boys and girls
wall open its 21st season May 31st
with three three-week semesters as
follows: May 31 to June 20; June
21 to July 11; and July 12 to Aug-
ust 1.
Camp Sweeney is located nine
miles east and one mile north of
Gainesville, Texas, on 338 acres
of beautiful rolling timbered hills
with three dormitories for boys
and three for girls; a non-denorm
inational chapel: a modern hos-
pital; a 30 acre lake for boating,
fishing and water skiing; a sani-
tary swimming pool, tennis courts,
recreational pavilion, target range
and 30 gentle saddle horses.
Under the supervision of a spe-
cialized medical staff, dietitian
and counselors, these children are
taught their proper diet with regu-
lated exercise, how to take their
own urine tests and give their in-
sulin injections. Of major impor-
( tance, through this group asocia-
. tion with other young diabetics,
■ they realize they are not alone
I with their problem and with proper
! knowledge and care can do any-
i thing a normal child can do.
■ Diabetes is hereditary, incurable
| and increasing yearly. It is the
