Gladys HaU
Gladys M. Hall, 76, of Yoa-
kum, passed away Friday. Oct. 31.
She was bora July 5, 1927, in
Yoakum, to the late Jesse Sr. and
Stella Steward Rrchardon. She was
a housewife and a Baptist.
She is survived by sister, Mary
Richardson of Yoakum and
brother, Jesse Richardson of
Killeen.
She was preceded in death by
sister, Gloria Jean Richardson; and
brothers, Bobby Richardson and
Charlie Richardson
Visitation was held from noon
to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 and 9
a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Jamison
Funeral Home chapel.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home chapel
with Rev. Karen M. Jamison offi-
ciating. Burial followed at Pleas-
ant Grove Cemetery.
Annie Mae Joost
Annie Mae Joost, 82, of La
Grange, passed away Nov. 8.
She was bom March 29,1921
to Fritz and Martha (Tiedt)
Havemann. She married Milton
Joost on June 3, 1940 in Victoria.
That marriage of 56 years ended
with his death in 1996. She was a
homemaker, a member of the Luth-
eran Church and a member of the
Sons of Hermann Lodge #238 in
Plum.
She is survived by: daughter
and son-in-law. Margaret and Vic-
tor Sylvia of San Antonio; sons and
daughters-in-law, Robert and Vir-
ginia Joost ofVictoria, Ronald and
Wrenda Joost of Plum, Larry and
Kim Joost of Plum, David and
Sheryl Joost of Wharton, Wesley
and Elizabeth Joost of Lubbock
and Darryl and Glenda Joost of
Plum; 17 grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, parents, three sisters
and three brothers.
Funeral services were held to-
day at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Evan-

Helen E. Miller, 80, of Mont-
gomery and formerly of Yoakum,
passed away Saturday, Nov. 8.
She was bom Dec. 14,1922 in
Yoakum to Jesse Wamken and
Josie Chivers Wamken. She was a
retired business owner and home-
maker and a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband,
Clyde Miller of Montgomery;
daughters, Pamela Williams of
Montgomery and Kim Miller of
Montgomery; sister, Bernice Reese
of Coldsprings; brother, J.A.
Wamken, Jr. of Oklahoma; and
seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents.
Family visitation was held from
6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at Buff-
ington Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the
Methodist Church in Yoakum with
Rev. Jay McCurry officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Grove
Cemetery.

day, Nov. 5.

1949 in Little Rock, Ark. She grew
up in Victoria with parents Allan
and ImaDell Kovar. She was a ru-
ral letter carrier for the Yoakum
post office and a member of Holy
Cross Lutheran Church.
Diane is survived by husband
of 34 years, Leslie Prause; daugh-
ter, Loma Herman and husband
Robert, ofYoakum; son, Scott and
wife Aimee ofVictoria; and three
much loved grandchildren, Kaci
Herman and Ashlee and Brett
Prause; sister, Vivian Moore and
husband Bill ofVictoria; brother,
Darrell Kovar and wife Sherry of
Victoria; father Allan Kovar of
Victoria; mother-in-law. Leona
Prause and father-in-law Gilbert
Prause; and many nieces and neph-
ews.
She was preceded in death by
mother, ImaDell Kovar and grand-
parents Bill and Carrie Sparks.
Diane loved and enjoyed life.
Her greatest joy was spending time
with her grandchildren. She also
enjoyed playing bunco and looked
forward to her yearly trip to MO
Ranch with her Lutheran Church
Women friends.
A prayer service was held Fri-
day, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at Buffington
Funeral Home.
Services were held Saturday,
Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross
Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary
Goodson officiating.

Imogene Porter of Conroe.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; first husband, James
E. "Happy" Martin; second hus-

Jonathon Matthew Lehnert
Christopher and Angela Lehnert are the proud parents of a baby boy
bom October 28, 2003 at 5:45 p.m. at Wayne Hospital in Greenville,
Ohio.
The Little Mister will answer to Jonathon Matthew Lehnert.
On arrival he weighed 8 pounds, and was 211/2 inches long.

Country Craft Show set for Nov. 22
The 19th Annual Country
Craft Show will be held Satur-
day, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. at the Yoakum Community
Center.
Organizers of the show,
Pauline Ward, Martha Faulkner
and Bobby Bayer, would like to
invite the public to shop the 60
exhibitors booths filled with
quality handmade items.
Admission is free and door
prized donated from the artists at
the show will be given away ev-
ery half-hour throughout the day.
The Yoakum Heritage Mu-
seum members will have a con-
cession booth with homemade
cakes, pies, koiaches, sand-
wiches, drinks and much more
to satisfy anyone's hunger and
thirst all day.

FTA District III Convention held
Thirty-two students, three dis-
trict sponsors and a few people
from the Yoakum community at-
tended- the Future Teachers of
America District III Convention
held in Yoakum at the Harry O.
Gibson Center.
Dr. Paul Baker involved the
audience in his presentation by
having Tiffany Hale and Kassi
Hermes lead the group in a few
physical exercises to increase the
blood flow and stimulate the
brain.
Then each participant drew a
shape that Dr. Baker showed and
colored it any way they wanted
to. Since Dr. Baker was discuss-
ing the uniqueness of each per-
son, he pointed out some charac-
teristics in several drawings. He
also talked about how important
diction and enunciation for a
teacher or anyone who wants to
sound convincing and in author-
ity
He led the group in several
diction exercises that he used in
his years as a drama professor at
Baylor and Trinity Universities.
Kitty Baker showed the group
a book that her students created
when she helped start the Dallas
Children's Theater. It showed
how a mistake of spilled ink was
turned into an art project, along
with the emotions of turning an
accident into part of the creation.
Also, individual student's
strengths were analyzed through
the children's drawing in the
book.
Dr. Baker discussed the ele-
ments of Sensory Vocabulary that
are discussed his three books. The
Sensory Vocabulary that is based
upon the five senses includes
space, rhythm, line, texture,
movement, color, sound, shape,
and light.
The students discussed how
each of these is evident at foot-
ball games and thus the appeal of
the game. Also, several partici-
pants were asked to walk across
the front of the room, and the
rhythm of their walk was ana-
lyzed.
Each participant was given a
copy of Dr. Baker's book, Mak-
ing Sense with Five Senses. Dr.
Baker is known world wide, and
Yoakum was very fortunate to
have him present here. He ended
his presentation by taking ques-
tions from the audience.
Lords' Little Angels visit residents
Children from the Lord's Little Angels Childcare Center of Holy Cross
Lutheran Church visited the residents of Yoakum Nursing and Reha-
bilitation Center to trick or treat and share a song with some of the
residents on Halloween.
