Yoakum took a 34-0 win over the Victoria Memorial JV in
Victoria Thursday.
Halfback Johnny Chapman started the scoring with an 85-yard
touchdown run to put the Bulldogs up 8-0.
Brett Bnttain scored the next touchdown on a 53-yard pass from
quarterback Jeff Natho and halfback Matthew Stary scored on a 7-
yard run for a 21 -0 lead.
Austen Wilemon scored the next TD on a 22-yard pass from
Natho
Kennedy Chapman forced a fumble that was picked up by Brit-
tain and returned 40 yards for a touchdown.
Natho completed 7 of 10 passes for 169 yards and two touch-
downs. Brittain was the leading receiver with 96 yards and Aaron
Kloesel and Stary also had receptions.
“I'm encouraged that both the defense and offense played a good
game,” coach Donald Blank said "I hope to keep up the good
work.”

HALLETTSVILLE The Yoakum Bulldog freshmen lost a
tough 6-0 decision to Hallettsville Thursday.
John Hardin was the leading rusher with 27 yards on 9 carries;
Weston Pavlicek carried 14 times for 12 yards; and Aaron Baros
carried 8 times for 3 yards
Baros completed one of 4 passes for 38 yards with Bruno Mesa
making the reception.
Jamel Galindo led the defensive effort with 11 tackles, Justin
Garza had 8. Mesa 2, Baros 9, Pavlicek 4, Hardin 9, Mario Orosco 4,
Josh Richter 3. Cody Crisman 4, Fransico Rosas 5. Sedrick Walker 5
and Devon Dekowski 3.
Hardin had two kickoff returns for 24 yards and Baros two punt
returns for 16 yards

La Grange defeated Yoakum 28-6 in the season opener at Bull-
dog Stadium Thursday. Aug. 28
Justin Garza was the leading rusher with 75 yards on 9 carries.
John Hardin, who scored the only Bulldog touchdown, gained 72
yards on 5 tries, Weston Pavlicek carried 5 times for 27 yards, and
Aaron Baros and Jamel Galindo both gained 15 yards.
Baros completed 3 of 6 passes for 12 yards,
Baros and Hardin led in tackles with 8 each, Galindo had 7,
Sednck Walker and Garza 6 each. Chad Harabis and Dero Wright 4

Lhe St. Joseph Tigers fell to the St. Phillip’s Pioneers of El
Campo 14-0 last Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.
The Pioneers scored from 15 yards out on their initial possession
in the first quarter following a Tiger fumble
The Tiger defense then held the rest of the first half and the
Pioneers led 8-0 at the half
St. Philip s added a third quarter touchdown to complete the
scoring
Michael Malik led the Tiger offense with 82 yards on 16 carries.
Defensively, the ligers were led by Preston Kocian, Colby
Schindler and Tyler Kusak. who also recovered a fumble.

Softball Tournament has been
scheduled for Oct. 4-5 at the In-
dependence Park Quadraplex in
Gonzales.
There will be an A-B Division
and a C-D Division. Entry fee
will be $125 per team if paid be-
fore Sept. 26 or $150 per team if
paid after. T-shirts and a team tro-
phy will be awarded to the top
three teams in each division. Ros-
ters, which must be finalized be-
fore second game, are limited to
15 players.
A home-run derby for each
division will also take place.
