With exception of the bad thun-
der storm last Monday evening, we
have had some nice weather. Com-
bines are still busy the Big Coun-
try, but most of the wheat has been
harvested. Folks are enjoying sum-
mer sports, vacations and family
reunions and rodeos coming up.
Congratulations to Hali Wolsch,
a fifth grader at Stamford School
on receiving four awards at the end
of school program, which included
the perfect attendance, an award
in Computer Reading, in Language
Arts and the Citizenship Award.
She is the daughter of Jamie and
Karen Wolsch of Stamford, and the
granddaughter of Ed and Jan
Wolsch.
The ladies had a great time at
breakfast early Tuesday morning
in Aspermont when they all helped
Isabel! Mrazek celebrate her birth-
day. Others present were Doris
Pittcock, Lewanna Graham, Jo
McAnally, Anita Dozier, Betty
Lackey and grandson, Taylor, and
Martha McDowell.
The Sagerton Hobby club is
sponsoring a 55 alive Defensive
Driving Course on June 18 and 19
at the Sagerton Community Cen-
ter. Everyone is welcome to come
join the class. If you need more
information please contact Joyce
LeFevre at 940-997-2103.
Phyllis Letz along with her
Mother, Martha Spitzer and sister,
Laura Andress, both of Haskell and
Phyllis’s cousin, Dianna Cullas
from Granbury all left last Friday
for a vacation to Omaha, Nebraska.
While there they attended the
Farver Family reunion. They re-
turned home on Tuesday and re-
ported a wonderful trip and a great
time.
Spending Saturday with Danny
and Phyllis Letz were their children
and grandchildren, Jana and Kevin
Conner, Eric and Deanna from
Quanah and Casey and Emery Letz,
Rylan and Madisyn. They all helped
Danny celebrate his birthday
J F and Antia Dozier were in
Lubbock on Thursday and Friday
on business. While there Anita had
a nice visit with Bernice White and
her daughter and family, Judy &
Louis Wilkies and Katrina. Bernice
is spending a few weeks with the
Wilkins.
George and Evelyn Becker from
Flugerville were overnight guest of
Fus and Beunice Vahlenkamp on
Saturday. Joining them for a visit
on Saturday evening were Calrence
and Rachel Teichelman. Kouiseand
Adeline Spitzer visited with them
on Sunday morning.
• Glen and Mittie Dunham, JF and
Anita, the Calhoun family and the
Fred Douglas family all attended the
Family Fu Activities held in
Aspermont on Saturday evening,
sponsored by the Chamber of
Commerce.
Anita attended the Birthday re-
ception held in the First United
Methodist Church in Asperomont
on Sunday afternoon honoring
Magene Yarborough on her 70th
birthday. The celebration was
hosted by her family and several
of her friends. Congratulations,
Magene.
Be sure and keep our Old Glory
Fun Day in mind. This is one cel-
ebration you won’t want to miss.
Carm Letz and Lacey spent the
week end in Borene in the home of
Janet and Mike Williams and Amy.
They also got to visit with their
Aunt Peggy Richards who lives
there in Boerne. On Saturday af-
ternoon the Williams hosted a Bar
Charter Digital MVP Includes:
B Que honoring their daughter,
Amy, on her graduation from high
School on Friday evening. Others
present were, Mike’s parents from
Olney, Robert and Mary Tabb,
Travis and Nathan from Houston,
and Mike’s sister and family, Karla,
Richard and Ashley form Colorado.
Lacey and Ashley got to enjoy the
George Strait Chevy Concert in San
Antonio on Saturday.

Monday Gospel Talent Night was
on schedule Monday, June 11, at
Avoca Methodist Church beginning
promptly at 6:30 p.m. An above
normal turn-out with wonderful
talent, some new, and from as far
away as New Mexico.
The event was the last until
sometime in the fall because of
many factors especially the dis-
tance some have to travel and the
heat of the summer and utility cost.
• It is estimated that it may be in
October.We will keep you in-
formed.
Vacation Bible School has taken
a different twist in the Lueders-
Avoca Area this year. Avoca Bap-
tist Church and Lueders Baptist
Church along with Avoca Method-
ist Church will pull together to host
the Vacation Bible School to begin
June 18 through June 22 to be held
at Lueders Baptist Church in
Lueders. "The Polar Expedition"
is the theme. A swimming pool
party is planned for Friday with the
closing to be Sunday Evening Ser-
vices at Lueders Baptist at 6 p.m.

Sunday, June 10, was the
last Sunday for Rev. Dewayne Wolf
as pastor of Avoca United Meth-
odist Church. His sermon and
fairwells will be a memorable one
for many present that day.
Four years in this area and pas-
tor at Avoca Methodist has given
the Wolf Family many ties and
bonds. Rev. Wolf with his wife,
Denise, and their four children,
Justin, Seraiah, Jacob and Jared left
Tuesday, June 12, around 4 p.m.
for Kress, near Plainview. Having
been a student and part-time pas-
tor in Avoca, Rev. Wolf will take a
full time position.
The final sermon as pastor at
Avoca United Methodist Church
was titled “The Passing of the
Mantle,” using Scripture taken from
II Kings 2:1-18. Rev. Wolf passed
the mantle to the new pastor of
Avoca United Methodist Church,
Dennis HufTaker from Avoca.
Sunday, June 17, will begin both
pastors’ new year. The Second
