Water Quality Board were in
Stamford Wednesday to con-
fer with city officials about the
sewerage disposal plant. They
were invited here by the city
after a letter from Austin
pointed out that effluent from
the Stamford plant was below
state requirements.'
The local plant, located near
College Lake, was built in

al Women’s CluV this past
year went to Mrs. Bill (Mary)
Gay, a member of the club
for 20 years. A plaque was
given her at the annual
awards Knquet Thursday
night.
In making the presentation,
Mrs. Bill McClellan recalled
that Mrs. Gay has held every
office in the organization, has
•worked in all club projects
but particularly has been an
inspiration in the club’s schol-
arship program, known as th£

speech and drama at Hardin-
Simmons University, declared

awards dinner of the Stamford

A highlight was announcing
Mrs. Bill Gay as outstand-
ing mefcber of the club for
the past year.
Mrs. Crow, introduced by
Mrs.'George Kinney, said that
even today women have to be
more (han adequate in all
phases of life if they are to be
accepted. *
