Rev. and’Mrs. Harry B. Garvin of Fort Worth were
appointed missionaries to Uganda at a recent meet-
ing the Baptist Mission Board. Mr. Garvin-was
born in Anson and Mrs. Garvin at Clyde but they
both attended school at Lueders. He has been serv-
ing as pastor at Dixie Heights Baptist Church at
Fort.Worth and attending Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary. The Garvins have, five chil-

Alarm' Comes In
The Stamford Fire Depart-
. ment had a novel experience
• Monday night. All volunteer
firemen were present for the
weekly drill when an alarm
came in.
The fire was at 616 E. Reyn-
olds, a houre pwnerf by Bobby
Ed Taylor. Some old clothing
or refuge caught fire and be-

Audit Shows
City’s Funds
In Good Shape
A .report of the audit of City
of Stamford funds was pre-
sented to the city council Fri-
day and James E. Rodgers,
certified public accountant who
made thd audit went over thp
45-page report at the meeting.
The city year ends *&ep-
wtember 30. Because City Man-
ager Kerry Sweatt will be
leaving at the end of this
year, the city has requested
Mr. Rogers to give a supple-
mental report at that time. -
The audit shows the.city on
Sept. 30 had $77,418.35 in the .
bank and a total of 3387,510.62
in investments. Listed as li-
abilities are 38.541.31 for re-
serve bond interest in sinking
fund; 3275,110.57 reserve, for^
emergency, and 312.279.14 re-
served for construction.
The audit shows that $47,-
922.50 will be needed to servke
general fund obligation bonds
ni tne coming year. All of
these bonds will be retired by
the end of 1975. Total due, in-
terest and principal, is 3250,-
312.50.
Final Approval was given by
the Stamford city council Fri-
day on a rate increase for
Lone Star Gas Co. The
increase will be '16.7 cents on
each rate step. Thn company
has nought approximately 22
cents. .. *
This is slightly more than
76 per cent of the increase

John’s United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include his wife
Lora of Stamford; one son,

ford; one daughter, Martha
Arion Daniel of Tucson, Ariz.;
and one sister. Mrs. Dale Phil-
lips of Phoenix, Ariz.
