Why is it then, that Christians i
have difficulty making and keep-
ing commitments to Jesus Christ
and to his work and to his church?
Now, hear me, I’m not judging anyone. I fail just
like everyone else. From what I’ve told you in
the above remarks, you can see that hardly any-
one cannot make and keep commitments. What’s
needed is to prioritize those commitments. The
Bible pretty much tells us how in Matthew 6:33,
which says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God
and his righteousness, and all these things shall
be added unto you.” When you do that, you'll
find that Jesus Christ becomes “the great commit-

proud of our very special patchwork

faith, hope, and love that has spanned
over the last seven decades.

Love Network Spring Concert Sunday
I remember the first time I attended one was
when we last hosted it in 2012. Since then I have
attended every one of their concerts and even had
the opportunity to participate in several of them.
Love Network is a coalition comprised of some
40 churches in the Baytown area who, along with
United Way of Greater Baytown and Chambers
: County, support this ministry'. They have an office
at 206 N. Whiting (at the corner of Sterling). The
l volunteer staff interview people who are in need
and strive to point them to resources that can help.
We at Faith Presbyterian are but one of the food
pantries that helps Love Network serve our com-
munity. While admission to the concert is free, we
will take a love offering. In addition, people are
also encouraged to bring non-perishable food and
hygiene items.
1 will have the privilege of opening this concert
with some old friends and some new friends.
The old friends will include Bryon Cummings

Christians to go and tell the good news of Jesus

and it’s sorely needed today. I actually think that
the title of this parable is more important than the
one that it’s similar to, which I mentioned above.
Without a great commitment, there will be no
“Great Commission.”
1 actually got this title from something that the
Lord spoke to my wife Pat about when she was
having her Watchman prayer time this evening.
She said that she was praying and this phrase
just came out of her mouth. I thought, “How pro-
found!”
This word “commitment” is almost tip-toed
around these days. The truth is, most people have
no problem at all making commitments today. We
do it all the time. The first one that comes to my

ours.
