Selective Service on March 31, America will rely on
voluntary enlistment* for the maintenance of the Regular
Army at authorized strength.
In view of world conditions today, this is a step of
jUie gravest importance to every American citizen. Never
before in history has any nation raised and maintained
a tn ill ion-in an army by tlw volunteer system alone. Our
ideals, otir belief in individual freedom, our safety and
our duty to promole world peace — all are bound up in
this decision.
This is your Army, and voluntary enlistment is your
• xhoicc. It must no) fail. With your help it will not fail.
The Army must, continue Io provide adequate occupa-
tion forces oversea*, to supply theac forces, and to help
in keeping America strong and secure.
Your help and understanding can do much to en-
courage a 4eady Glow of 3-year voluntary enlistments,
Decenary to sound training and the efficient performance
of the Array's task.
When yon discusathis subject with your sons, brothers,
husbands or friend* who may be considering an Army
career, bear in mind the advantage* offered by a 3-year
enlistment. Among them arc the choice of branch of
service and of overseas theater where openings exist, and
the. opportunity for thorough training in valuable skill*.
A job in the new Regular Army compare* favorably
with the average in industry, and has more opporlunilie*
for promotion than most.
You can help by giving yonr respect and support to
the man who enlist* voluntarily — to do his part in carry-
ing out vour country's world-wide obligation* to build
a peace that will endure.
