2 Sec. 111.155. GIFTS AND GRANTS. The board may solicit,
3 accept, and administer gifts and grants from any public or private
4 source for the use and benefit of the college.
5 Sec. 111.156. OTHER FACILITIES. In addition to the
6 college's facilities, the board may enter into agreements under
7 which additional facilities used in the college's teaching and
8 research programs, including libraries, auditoriums, research
9 facilities, and medical education buildings, may be provided by a
10 public or private entity.
11 Sec. 111.157. TEACHING HOSPITAL. A teaching hospital
12 considered suitable by the board may be provided by a public or
13 private entity. The hospital may not be constructed, maintained, or
14 operated with state funds.
15 SECTION 2. Sections 59.01(1) and (3), Education Code, are
16 amended to read as follows:
17 (1) "Medical staff or students" means medical doctors,
18 doctors of osteopathy, dentists, veterinarians, and podiatrists
19 appointed to the faculty or professional medical staff employed for
20 student health services by The University of Texas System, The
21 Texas A&M University System, the Texas Tech University System, the
22 University of Houston College of Medicine, or the University of
23 North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, either full time or
24 who, although appointed less than full time (including volunteers),
25 either devote their total professional service to such appointment
26 or provide services to patients by assignment from the department
27 chairman; and interns, residents, fellows, and medical or dental2
