My name is Margaret Dyer and I am announcing my candidacy
tor Panola County lax Assessor/Collector. 1 am currently serving
as Tax Assessor/Collector, having been appointed to fill the unex-
pired term of our previous collector who retired in April. I have
been employed by Panola County for nearly 26 years. I have
worked in both the auto registration and ad-valorem department for
the last twelve years. 1 have the knowledge and experience neces-
sary to continue serving the taxpayers of Panola County.
I have lived in Panola County since 1973 and have been married
34 years to I loyd Dyer, a Beckville native. We are the proud par-
ents of three children: sons. Drew and Travis, and daughter, Kelly
Piedra, and we have also been blessed with four wonderful grand-
children I am a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Beckville
where I serve as treasurer.
I have always strived to serve the people of Panola County with
fairness and honesty and will continue to do so. I would truly appre-
ciate your support and your vote. Thank You.

I was in Ciroveton, Texas
last Saturday and Sunday. My
daughter-in-law. Denise
Whiddoh's lather passed
away and was buried Sunday.
Calvin and Melissa Whiddon
came up from Beaumont for
the funeral. Robert Oakley
was 75 years old. He is sur-
vived by his wife. Irene and
two daughters, Denise
Whiddon and her husband,
Winston of Weatherford,
Texas and Delores Nevins and
her husband. Scott, of Elysian
Fields, Texas. He had four
grandchildren, Rebecca and
husband, Haley and husband,
Aaron Whiddon and wife,
Kathryn and Layne Whiddon.
Jerry and Reba Coxen went
dove hunting in West Texas
along with Ira LaGrone,
Bennie Gasper, Jr., Robbie
and Tracy Shoults and Shae
and Ryan Rawson. They had
a good time, but interrupting
Jerry and Reba's hunt was the
death of Jerry's aunt in
Wichita Falls, Texas. Jerry
and Reba traveled to
Grandfield, Oklahoma for the
funeral. It was at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday.

C. J. and Brandie LaGrone
are pleased to announce the
birth of their son Blayton
Cole LaGrone, bom August
10th. He weighted 6 pounds

are Roy Gene LaGrone and

ing the 2007/2008 Texas
Angus Association, partici-
pate in programs conducted
by the National Junior Angus
Association and take part in
Association sponsored shows
and other national and region-
al events.
The American Angus
Association is the largest beef
registry association in the
world, w ith more than 34,000
active adult and junior mem-
bers.
Whitetail deer season.
Contestants may enter more
than once; however, only one
entry per contestant is eligible
for prizes.
All ages are allowed to
enter the archery contest and
contestants must be at least 16
years of age to enter the gen-
eral season adult contest.
Contestants must be entered
into the contest 24 hours prior
to taking the entry.
Archery contest tickets can
be purchased for $10 and
open season tickets for $15.
All contestants that register
will also receive a free camo

Wulf Outdoor Sports will
be hosting two Big Buck
Contests this year, one for
archery season and another
for general season. Contests
will be open to the following
counties: Angelina,
Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk,
Sabine, San Augustine and
Shelby County.
The Big Buck archery con-
test begins September 29 and
will close on November 2 and
no entries will be taken after
store closing hours on
November 3. The general sea-
son contest which will include
rifle and archery seasons
begins November 3 and will
close at the end of legal shoot-
ing hours on January 7, 2008
and no entries will be accept-
ed after store closing hours on
January 8, 2008. Entries may
be taken by firearms no earli-
er than November 3.
Contest rules are as fol-
lows. Entries must be taken
by legal means in accordance
with all applicable Federal
and State hunting regulations.

Texas Forestry Association to host Field
Day, Forestry Tour Saturday, September 29

Cooke, in partnership with
the Texas Forestry
Association will host a Field
Day and f orestry lour on
their free Farm located in
Panola County, on Saturday,
September 29. 2007. I he
Cookes are the 2007 lexas
Outstanding Free Farmers of
the Year.
The Cooke's maintain
their 1,592-acre Free I arm
for pine and hardwood tim-
ber production and wildlife
food plots are planted each
year. They converted a wet
land area to a duck pond and
nesting place, and in 2001
they built a new lake on the
property. They follow best
management practices and
maintain boundary lines and
roads.
Each year, landowners,
natural resource managers
and conservationists gather
at the year’s Outstanding
Free Fann to celebrate forest
stewardship, take part in edu-
cational workshops and rec-
ognize individuals for pro-
moting and practicing good
forestry. This year's event
will include a woods tour
where speakers will address
management, ponds, food
plots and aesthetics, and a
mulching demonstration will
be conducted by Redding
Construction. In addition.
Congressman Louie
Gohinert will be the keynote
speaker during lunch.
The Texas Tree Farm pro-
gram is a voluntary forest
conservation, landowner
recognition, and education
program. To qualify as a cer-
tified Tree Fanner, a
landow ner must meet a set of
forest management standards
and guidelines set by the
American Tree Farm System
and actively follow a written
forest management plan.
Currently, there are 2,300
non-industrial Tree Farmers
in Texas carefully managing
over 700,000 acres of private
forestland. Texas Forestry
Association sponsors the
free Farm program in Texas.
The field day and lunch
are free, but individuals are
asked to RSVP by contacting
Texas Forestry Association at
(936) 632-TREE or by leav-
ing your name, address, tele-
phone no. and the number of
people attending on voice-
mail at 1-866-TXTREES, or
email tfa@texasforestry.org.
Texas Pro Loggers will earn
4.0 hours of continuing edu-
cation for attending this
event. Registration will
begin at 9 a m. and the event
will end after lunch.
The Cooke Tree Farm is
located 7.5 miles north of
Carthage on U.S. 59 (east
side). Parking will be in a
designated area of the Tree
Farm. Transportation during
the tour will be provided. Be
sure to wear comfortable
walking shoes and clothing
suitable for outdoors.
