The war is "hitting close to
home” again. On Feb. 26,
two officers representing the
U. S. Marine Corps Reserve
in Houston came to the home of
Mrs. Peggy J. Snow of Alvin
and notified her that her 20-
year-old son. Marine Lance
Col. Randall Dean Herrod is
charged with murder in Viet-
nam.
Mrs. Snowsaidthatherfirst
reaction to the news was "re-
lief” as she first thought that
the officers were bringing not-
ification of her son's death.
Herrod, who has been living
with Mrs. Snow’s father,.Alvin

Armbrecht said that these
drivers contributed greatly to
the company’s overall fleet
average for 1969. The entire
fleet, consisting of 685 ve-
hicles, was driven 11,600,000
miles during the year. The ac-
cident rate, based on the num-
ber of accidents per million
miles driven, was 6.50.
“In more realistic terms,”
Ambrecht continued, “our
fleet has driven safely more
than 154,000 miles for each
accident. Consider the fami-
ly car, which is driven an av-
erage of 10,000 miles each
year. To equal Houston Nat-
ural’s 1969 record, the aver-
age driver would havetodrive
more than 15 years without an
accident."
