Gwosdaz announce the birth of
a son, Thomas Alan, at 12:15
p.m. March 9 in Alvin’s Gulf-
coast Hospital. He weighed
seven pounds 13 ounces.
The Gwosdzs also have two
daughters, Elaine, four, and
Shirley, two.

To Meet At Franks

The Friendship Club met
recently at the Alvin State Bank
for a regular business meet-
ing. The meeting was con-
ducted by club president, Wan-
da Coonrod.
Hostess for the meeting was
Maxine Gribbs. who served de-
licious refreshments.
The next meeting of the
Friendship Club will be Thurs-
day, March 19 at the home of
Teena F ranks of Arcadia. Inez
Dyer will be co-hostess.
The Friendship Club extends
an invitation to all Past No-
ble Grands of the Rebekah
Lodge to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bible of Sulphur Springs announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Rhon-
da Sue, to Timothy Lamar Drachenberg, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Cecil Drachenberg of Alvin. Both are attending Stephen F.
Austin University where Miss Bible is a sophomore student
and Drachenberg is a senior. He is an Alvin High School grad-
uate. The wedding will be an event of May 30 at the Jefferson
Street Church of Christ in Sulphur Springs. Mr. Dempsey N.
Stripling, minister of La Marque Church of Christ and former
minister of the Central Church of Christ in Alvin, will perform
the ceremony.

Mrs. Connie Fanning of Al-
vin graduated with honors Fri-
day, March 13 from the Car-
diac Nurse Specialist School
at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Houston.
Mrs. Fanning was a 1968
Nursing graduate from Alvin
Junior College, she was voted
‘Most Beautiful’ for 1968.
Since graduation,Mrs. Fan-
ning has worked as Charge
Nurse in the Intensive and
Coronary Care Unit at the Gal-
veston Gounty Memorial Hos-

ter of the American Business
Womens Association (ABWA)
held their regular monthly
meeting Monday, March 9 at
the Alvin State Bank.
Miss Ida Tinnin, chapter
president, called the meet-
ing to order. The invocation
was given by Rossye Calli-
han. The invocation was fol-
lowed by the Pledge of "Alle-
giance and the welcoming of
guests.
Speaker for the evening was
Mr. Roy Sinclair, Brazoria
County Field Representative
for the Department of Health,
Education, and Welfare. Mr.
Sinclair spoke to members
and guests on Social Secur-
ity and his informative talk

the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter,
Charlene Ann, to Rev. Keith A. Barker, son of Rev. and Mrs.
Winston J. Barker of Alvin. Miss Spicer, agraduate of Wichita
High School, is a junior student at West Texas State University
in Canyon. Barker, an Alvin High School graduate, is also a
junior at WTSU. vice president of the Student Activities Coun-
cil and president of Faith Student Center of which they are
both members. They are also members of the Faith Student
Center Choir. The wedding is planned for August 7 in Wichita,
Kansas.
