Mrs. Milton Martin of Avoca,
were in Canton, near Dallas,
where they met and spent the
weekend together with Mr.

in Lubbock last weekend for
the Texas Teeh Red Raiders

stam were hosts Friday night
in their home in Stamford to a
group of relatives and friends
honoring the hosts' grandson.
Vance Thompson home from
Tarleton State University for
the weekend
The occasion was in obser-
vance of his birthday and was
held following the Stamford-
Merkel football game at Stam
ford.

day dinner at their home in

parents. Mr. and Mrs Robert

stein and Chuck were in Lub-
bock last weekend for the

In renewing the Stamford
American. Mrs Bert Johnson
of Arlington wrote that they
are all doing all right now. but
that Johnson had been in the
hospital 18 days while he
underwent two surgeries He
returned home Sept. 15 and is
doing fine. r
The Johnsons lived for
many years on their farm
north of Lueders, but, upon
retirement, they moved to Ar-
lington to be near their chil-
dren and families.
Mrs Johnson grew up in
Throckmorton as Neva Falls.

tunity to help in the Mexico
Disaster Relief Sunday when
there will be a basket by the
door in which their offerings
may be placed
These contributions will
then be turned over to the
Texas-lxniisiana Synod of the
Lutheran Church in America,
of which Bethel is a member,
and the Southern District of
the American Lutheran
Church, which in turn will be
channeled through Lutheran
World Relief which is already
involved with relief activities
in Mexico, hit by two devastat-
ing earthquakes.
This relief offering for Mex-
ico will be received Sunday in
all member church of the
Southern District and the
Texas-Louisiana Synod by
placing a basket at the door.

serve, wash dishes and took

terius. with the help of parents

cooking of the meal
The singing of the table
prayer was led by Birger Ha-
terius and "Happy Anniver-
sary" was sung to Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Lyckman. who
observed their first wedding
anniversary Sunday.
The Luther League social
will be held Wednesday. Oct.
18. at 7:30 p.m. in the Bethel
Lutheran Church basement
with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Har-
vick and Frances Olson as
hosts. Everyone is welcome to
this family social.
The five members of the
board of the Ericksdahl Co-op
gin and its manager. Denis
Olson, held their regular
meeting Tuesday night. Oct 1.
at the gin office.

The gin is ready for this
season's ginning and with
some cotton fields already
sprayed for the killing of
leaves, and with the coopera-
tion* of the weather, the gin
will soon be in operation.
Mrs. Margaret Petterson of
Stamford had as recent house
guests her daughter in law and
granddaughter. Mrs. Randy
Petterson and Erin of Sanger,
who came especially for a
birthday visit with Mrs Pet-
terson.
They arrived Thursday,
Sept. 26, the day of Mrs Pet-
terson's birthday Petterson
was unable to be here with his
mother because of his work

of Stamford, spent one day in
Abilene in the home of Mrs.

Denton on Saturday.

of Stamford were in Denver
City, their former home, for a
