The artist that he' is, her turned
from the horrors of the earthquakes
and • the heart-rending scenes of
deaths to paint with his master brush
the unequaled glories of .Hawaii, the
paradise .of the Pacific. ’.Five year**
were spent* in the undertaking, where
one.lesb anxious, to do full justice
to this land of everlasting sunshine
might have completed his work in a
month’s time.
‘‘A trip, to the Hawaiian Islands”
as Mr. Aldrich calls his masterpiece,
is being shown this week at' the
LIBERTY theatre,’ embillished with
an atmospheric ‘setting composed of
sweet singers, who with their sweet
melodies of Hawaii, hold one closely
to the atmosphere of the land where
opal waves play on a saidy beath.

William F. Aldrich, adventurer,,
globe trotter, has done in celluloid|
what the old masters did with brush
and oil. To say that he is a motion
picture cameraman would L- as
much an error as to call Rembrandt
a photographer. With his camera
he brings to the screen in glorious
proportions the' wonders of the uni-
verse. No beaten path he follows,
but from the queer out-of-the-way
places brings to live on the screen
the romance of people and environ-
ments which we of this prosiac bus-
iness world would meet only in books.
As the official photographer of
the Japanese government, Mr. Al-
drich went into the heart of the
ruins caused by the . great earth-
quake and fire from its still smol-
dering embers brought back the only
complete records of tears and devas-
tation.

great importance as public records

' THANKSGIVING
’ (By^ Col. 'Ed C. Wilson)
Foi* sturdy oak and stately pine,
For somber shade and glad sunshine,
For wooded hill and rippling stream
For silvery moon and starlight gleam
For pleasant paths and sheltered
nooks,
For age-old wisdom found in books.
For lovely flowers and blossoms
sweet,
For green things growing at our
feet, "
For cloudy sky and beating rain,
For days of toil and hours of pain,
For fruitage of the rich brown earth,
For loved ones gathered ‘round the
hearth,
Faces of loving friends to greet,
Voices of children in our street,
For Christian’s faith, and peace at
even,
For love of Christ and hope of heav-
en,
Souls that are free and hope of
heaven,
Souls, that are free and minds at rest
A land with peace and plenty blest,
For Autumn’s store and harvest
hoard,
For all these things we thank the
Lord.
