Met Tuesday.
The ’First Ward P. T. A. met on
Tuesday afternoon, March 8 with
sixteen present. The meeting was
opened with a prayer by Mrs. H. F.
McCormick. Reading by Onnie Jean
Baker. Three songs, accompanied
by stringed instruments by Eleanor
Merle and Peggy Dotson. Reading
by Lou Jane Wisdom. Song by
little June Rose Hodge. Reading
by Alvin Futch McCormick. Mrs.
A. F* McCormick, Mrs. Sam Dot-
son and Miss Ida Lee Falls were
appointed on a committee for the
selection of a loving cup to be given
to the winning spelling team.

The Presbyterian ladies were hos-
tesses to the Federated Missionary
Society at their quarterly meeting
Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyter-
ian church.
Mrs. A. C. Rippy, the new presi-
dent was in charge and the follow-
ing program was rendered: Song
by congregation; solo, by Mrs. Bruce
Frazier; scripture lesson by Mrs.
J T McDannald from the 13th chap-
ter of First Corinthians; Mrs. Jodie
D. Smith read “My Mother.” which
she composed and dedicated to her
mother, Mrs. W. M. Calvert, as an
encore she gave “The Path of Life,”
by Carrie Jacob Bronz. Mrs. Byron
Johnson read “Pictures of Life,”
