Jo Ann Stone, daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. J. W. Stone Jr., was se-
lected to sing in the All State
Chorus when tryouts were held
at Midwestern University, Satur-
day, Nov. 16. Jo Ann, a sophomore
is a soprano in the High School
Choral Club.
The All State Chorus will sing
in Galveston, Feb. 20, 21 and 22
before the Texas Music Educa-
tors Convention. Others partici-
pating in the tryouts were Leonia
Chesher and Greta Noe.
In conjunction with the all-
state tryouts, a choral clinic and
workshop was held. The clinic is
sponsored by the Texas Intersch-
olastic League of choir and choral
clubs from Region 14.
Clinic Director was Dr. Archie
Jones, from the University of Tex-
as, nationally known clinician,
judge and arranger. Fourteen
choruses participated, each sing-
ing before Dr. Jones with their
own director. They were then di-
rected by Dr. Jones and given sug-
gestions on how to improve their
performance.
Thirty-four members of the
Electra High School Chorus at-
tended the clinic. A group of
Junior High choral members also
attended.
Howard L. Smith, director of
the choral groups, stated the stu-
dents received many benefits from
