the Eldon Taylor property at 505
v South Electra and expect to move
there/ soon.

Coach’s Mother
Coach Pridgeon and the
were honored by a visit from
coaches’ mother, Mrs. Alma Prid-
geon of San Saba, at the Burkbur-
nett game. Also present were Jim
Collins of San Saba, uncle of the
coach and Peggy the coach’s wife.
Coach Pridgeon reported that
his mother is an enthusiastic foot-
ball fan zand enjoyed seeing the
Cubs anefthe coach in action. Mrs.
Pridgeon spent four days with her
son, daughter -in-law and Uttle
grandson before returning home.

Mrs. Olson Honored
With Bridal Shower
Mrs. Gus Olson, Nee Mary
Cooper of Electra was honored
with a bridal shower Saturday,
Oct. 8 in the home of Mrs. S. C.
Massengill. Serving as hostess
with Mrs. Massengill were Mes-
dam.es T. P. Jones, Ed Waller,
A. E. Harris, Nettie Campsey, M.
A. Buzbee and Tollie Wilburn.
The room was attractively dec-
orated -in the brides chosen colors,
of gold 'and white. The refresh-
ment table was laid.with a lovely
lace, table cloth from, China. •
Between forty and fifty guests
attended the shower at which
Mrs. Olson received many lovely
gifts.
Patsy Russell Moore, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moore of
Denison, former residents of Elec-
tra, .placed third in the Women’s
Barrel Race contests in a recent
rodeo at Nocona. The young lady
who won numerous^ awards in
Electra rodeos while in , grade
school here, amassed a total of
57.2 seconds in three rides as
compared to 54.8 seconds on three
rides for the champion, Sherry
Price of Addington, Okla.
EJH§ Student Council
Organizes
Tuesday, Oct. 18, Bob Groff
was elected by the student body of
Electra Junior High to head the
newly organized Student Council.
Mrs. Mary Crawford, 8th grade
reading teacher, will serve as
sponsor of the organization.
The ,policies of the new Student
Council have not yet been outlined
but thie pattern of other schools
will be followed. The goals they
hope to reach are good p '^s. The
council wishes to set forth stan-
dards which will be of service,
such as promotion of better school
spirit, leincouraging higher stan-
dards of citizenship, and instilling
high ideals of patriotism.
The Student Council member-
ship is comprised of the president,
the home room presidents, and the
home room representatives.
A committee was appointed to
write a constitution for the organ-
ization. The committee is made upi
of class presidents.
The Student Council officers in-
cludes: Bob Groff, president; Jane
Ann Griffin, vice president; Carla
Cambron, secretary; Sue Lee,
parliamentarian; Christie Leie,
treasurer; Keith Rollins, fire mar-
shal; Jannis Baker, reporter.
Mrs. Ed Campbell
Improving After
Explosion Burns
Mrs. Ed Campbell who was seri-
osly burned when an explosion
damaged the family home on the
Douglas Road some weeks ago, is
slowly improving but is still con-
fined to her bed in the Electra
Hospital.
Visitors at Mrs. Campbell’s bed-
side included her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wade
Gilliam and daughter, Ronda, of
Lawton, Okla.; her son, Jack
Campbell of Fort Worth; other
sons and daughter-in-laws Mr. and
Mrs. E. D. Campbell Jr., and
daughter, of Jacksboro arrd .Mr.
and Mrs. L.-C. Campbell ^and
daughters of Houston.
Sunday visitors in the Camp-
bell home and at Mrs. Campbell’s
bedside included Messrs, and Mes-
dames Jerome Hoisbach and M. C.

Ex-EIectran Dies
on Long Island
Bert McHugh of Electra and
his 'sister-in-law, Mrs. Shannon
Darland of Burkburnett were
called to Kings Park, Long Is-
land, New York, during the past
week, .by the death of Mrs, Roon-
ey Mae Kennedy, sister of Mrs.
Darland the late Mrs. Bert Mc-
Hugh. Mrs. Kennedy who has re-
sided in New York state several
years, died Saturday. Mr. Mc-
Hugh was enroute to Kings Park
by plane when she passed away
and Mrs. Darland joined the fam-
ily there during the week end, go-
ing by plane. The funeral services
and interment took place at Kings
Park.
Mrs. Kennedy spent her child-
hood in Electra. Her parents, the
late Mr. and Mi's. John R. Taylor
who are buried in Electra Ceme-
tery. They are charter members
of the First Baptist church here.
Survivors include the husband,
the sister, Mrs. Darland and sev-
eral nieces and nephews. J. E.
McHugh of 701 North Electra
Street is a nephew of the de-
ceased.
Caslin and
Falls.
There has been an addition to
the Campbell family roster since
Mrs. Campbell was disabled by
burns. A daughter, Patti, was born
Oct. 19 to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray
Campbell of Fort Worth. The
grandmother had her suitcase
packed, she said, to go to Fort
Worth for the stork event but
had to go to the Electra Hospital
instead. The Fort Worth couple
have a son, 2 year old Billy David.
Mrs. Campbell is high in her
praise of the Electra hospital staff
and expressed her gratitude to the
many friends who have showed
their sympathy in a neighborly
way during her illness. Mr.
Campbell reports that the ex-
tensive damage to the residence
has been repaired.
