The conference
hosted over 1 00 na-
tionally and interna-
tionally recognized
speakers. Lectures and
seminars were held
over many topics such
as formation, the Cat-
echism, and technol-
ogy and social media.
A conference Mass was
celebrated on Friday
morning preceding the
keynote address, and
daily Mass was offered
on Saturday for those
who wished to attend.
An exhibition hall
was open throughout
the conference, allow-
ing Catholic organiza-
tions, such as Catholic
Charities and the Eter-
nal Word Television
Network (EWTN), to set
up tables and provide
information and sell
goods to conference
attendees. A collab-
orative cross project
was also spotlighted.
Those attending could
take a small bag of
colored stones and add
nas and Dallas.

These flags served as
a reminder of the build-
ing’s intended purpose:
to foster the unity of
the student body and
to inspire and prepare
them to take part in the
global community.
As Yasmin Gupta
expressed it, they in-
tend for “students to
benefit from these
facilities available to
them at SB Hall, to work
in teams on projects
and plans for the fu-
ture and benefit from
the global environment
available to them right
here on campus.”
Father Peter Verha-

Abbey, gave the invo-
cation for the ground-
breaking ceremony.

“We are once again
praying and counseling
outside the four operat-
ing abortion facilities in
Dallas, and will contin-
ue as long as abortions
are being committed,”
Underwood said.
CPLC is also host-
ing its annual 40 Days
for Life Prayer Vigil out-
side of the Planned Par-
enthood at 7989 W. Vir-
ginia Dr., which opened
in August. Volunteers
from churches and
schools of all denomi-
nations pledge to cover
shifts over a 1 2-hour
time period outside of
the clinic, with each vol-
unteer praying for one
hour. The University
of Dallas organization,
Crusaders for Life, has
committed to a 1 2-hour
shift as part of its mem-
bers’ participation in 40
Days for Life.
In light of the Su-
preme Court’s ruling,
Crusaders for Life will
resume Prayerful Pres-
ence for the rest of the
semester at its previ-
ous location, Abortion
Advantage.

As a result of this
most recent ruling, the
1 3 abortion clinics in
Texas that were closed
during the two weeks
between the rulings are
now allowed to operate
again. This includes
two clinics in Dallas,
Abortion Advantage
and Routh Street Wom-
en’s Clinic. Immedi-
ately after the ruling,
both clinics began re-
staffing and schedul-
ing abortions. All four
clinics in Dallas will
continue operating un-
til the 5th Circuit Court
gives its final ruling in
January.

Ministry Con-
ference (UDMC) was
held this past week-
end, drawing over
5200 attendees. The
conference has grown
rapidly over the years,
exploding from a mere
400 people attending
in 2006 to becoming
the second largest
Catholic ministry con-
ference in the United
States. The conference
is hosted each year by
the School of Ministry
in cooperation with
the Diocese of Dallas.
This year, it spanned
from the three days
from Thursday, Oct.
23 to Saturday, Oct.
2 5 and was held at
the Irving Convention
Center. The keynote
speaker was the J. Mi-
chael Miller, the arch-
bishop of Vancouver.
