sea of mud and b<-^cijdtation culminated Saturday after-

drizzle it develoifff’d . soon into a
tierce downpour that fell in sheets
for more than an hour. That gav •
way then to a slow rain th'at fell un-

Th? rain followed three days of |
extreme cloudiness .and fierce wind-
out of the southeast. Scattered j-
showers had fallen, but too light to j
do any good. The fear was that the
’clouds would be driven away by the
expected cold wave before they could,
precipitate any of their contents.
From reports:
The rain was general over North-
ern. Central. Central Western and
Northwestern-Texas Friday night and 1
Saturday, and while there may have
been various portions of the sections
of the State named receiving rain
reports indicate that the Territory,
indicated was prett generally cover
ed by the precipitation. Reports
from Oklahoma show that fhe rain
was general especially throughout
the southern portion of the new
state. In all parts a good season is
assured and stock watetj supply is
replenished. Small grain already
in the soil in Erath County will be
greatly benefited. The rain falling
in Cooke county lasted two hours
and.„was heavy, overflowing lowlands
in Gainesville Grayson county had
hard two hours’ rain, with high.
wind, but no damage reported.
Wheat and oats will be benefited
and stock water assured in Harde
man County, where the rain lasteu
ten hours
Two inches of rain followed a
light rain in Channing, Hartley-
County. in the Panhandle of Texas.
Swisher County’s wheat acreage
will be doubled because of the gen-
erous precipitation, two inches being
the total rainfail in the vicinity of
Tulia. In the Concho country re
ports at San Angelo from surround-
ing counties show the rain to have
been general. Precipitation at the
Tom Green County capital was about
an inch. Among cotrotJes reporting
rain were Collin, Clay. Cooke. Dal-
las. Denton. Ellis, Erath, Montague.
Palo Pinto, Parker. Swisher. Tom
Green, Van Zandt and Wise.
