The compulsory school attendance

plicable generally over the county Mon-
day. County Superintendent L. H. Ed-
wards said, and he expects a good in-
crease in attendance as a result of en-
forcing the law. This year the law re-
quires at least eighty days' attendance
of all • children of eight to fourteen
years of age. inclusive. Teachers are
required to Tfeep daily records of at-
tendance of all pupils and it was point-
ed out that those who fail to send their

The following from the Paisley and
Renfrewshire Gazette of Paisley, Scot-
land, referring to a nephew of P. G.
Storrie of this city will be of interest
to Denton friends of the family. The
young man mentioned is a son of a
brother of P. ,C, James and the late
Hamilton Storrie,:
Mr. Thomas C. » Storrie. Craigend,
Biackhall, has been officially notified
that his son, Second Lieutenant Wil-
liam Storrie. H. L. I., has been award-
ed the D. S. O. Tor meritorious service
in the Held. The decoration is recog-
nized as a senior officers' decoration,
and it is most unusual to bestow it on
a subaltern. The gallant officer had
been mentioned three times in dis-
patches before gaining the D. S. 0.
Lieut. Storrie, who is only nineteen
yeans of age, left Glasgow High school

Teachers Return From Waco
The forty or fifty teachers from the
College of Industrial Arts, the North

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to
attend the State Teachers’ association,
returned to Denton Saturday afternoon
after the close of the three-days session

The general report that the meet-
ing excelled, in point.of order and pro-
gram as well as attendance, any meet-
ing ever held by the association. Miss

in the highest terms of praise as a pre-
siding officer and special mention was
made-of the appreciated fact that thru
her effort splendid airder obtained thru-

spite of the large attendance and-the
continuous arrival at the auditorium
of fresh crowds. Denton people were
also interested in the election of for-
mer president W. B Bizrell of the C.

tion for the coming year?
During the continuance of the meet-
ing, luncheons, banquets and get-to-
