fore the boxes on the left hpnd side
from the entrance, and the window
pat in near the front for conven-
ience.
Changing the wall of course made
no change in the arrangement of
lock boxes, but each box was about
a couple of feet farther back than
formerly, and the employes of the
office were secretly amused several
times during the morning after the
wall was changed by patrons going
down to just about where their
boxes should have been, staring,
looking foolish and then wondering
why they stopped so far from their
box. "Look here," queried one
man, after getting his mail, "what
makes me feel like I had to walk too
*ar for that box’ I stopped two
feet before I rea bed it. and 'it
seemed to be in the same place be-
tween the other boxes that it

The noetoffiee has received no ci-
ders about the parcels post, and on-
ly a map, showing the eight zones
and the different charges for each,
has been sent here. Most of their
Infromation, they -stated, was got
from the newspaper dispat hes from
Washington, and personally they
know no more than the patrons, ex-
cept that between now and January
1st, as Assistant Postmaster Dowdell
ruefully stated, "there has to be a
lot learned about it.’’ The extra
Christmas work is beginning to be
felt, and each clerk is supposed to
be well posted dn all rules of the
parcels post when it is Inaugurated,
which will make it rather hard on
the department, they think.
