Sheriff Orr came in Wednesday
afternoon bringing with him Mann
White, a Pilot Point negro, whom
be arrested on ( 'grad Juryindict
meat < barging assault to murder.
The affray on which the Indictment
is based is said to have occurred
several days before. Another negro
named Harrison was the victim of
the alleged assault, suffering ser-
loug wounds about the body which
necessitated more than twenty
stitches to close. White was jailed.

of flies which is causing serious

Forty deaths are reported among
livestock at Sherman and other sec-
tions report losses also Among
the towns reporting the pest are
Gainesville, Decatur. McKinney.

While the reports from over Den-
ton county are that the fly plague
shows slight improvement In the di
mlnution of the number of the in-
sects, tbe situation is still serious,
■ practically every livestock owner is
taking preventive measures in the
effort to protect his stock from the
attacks of the flies. The visitation
is widespread, judging from the re-
ports, most North Texas points and
some in Oklahoma being affected
according to the d spatches.
Severaj other livestock losses
have been reported this week, and
further damage is apprehended if
the flies continue their stay. Tbe
warm, humid weather is’ held ac-
countable for the v sitation, and
the same species has made similar
visitations heretofore, old-timers
