ASSCCIA
Catered as second class matter, June 10th, 1905, at the post office at
Nocona, Montague County, Texas, under the Act of Congress of March
trd, 1879.
Our communities will be only as fine as in our courage
we will make them fine; and by our courage the communities
can be changed into the kind of communities we want them
to be.
For we build communities as we build our lives—by
dreams, and by ideals, and by daily work.
For nearly all of us courage, adventure and beauty will
ocme to us when we live. Here as nowhere else on earth
shall we find them.—Chas W. Pipkin.

True story: A member of President Roosevelt’s cabi-
net was having his face shaved and the barber, knowing his
identity, said he would like to have his help in getting per-
mission for his relatives in Italy to enter the United States.
He said there were a dozen who wanted to come, but
that the quota was an insurmountable obstacle.
“I think I can fix it,” parried the Secretary. “You
knows lots of Italians here in Washington who are proud of
Mussolini and Italy and who are unemployed and disgruntled
with conditions here. They are probably eager to get back to
Italy. You arrange for them to get back and I will see that
proper papers are issued so that your relatives can take their
places.”
“Oh, but they wouldn’t go back to Italy,” exclaimed the
barber.
“Why not?” asked the Secretary.
“You don’t understand,” said the barber. “They may
complain, but they know that this is the best country in
the world. People in Italy know it, too. A fourth of the
population would move here if you would let them in.”
This may be true of other nationalities in Europe also.
