A ■ We know of three possibili-
ties, with varying degrees
of expense and difficulty Perhaps
the simplest idea is to buy a tool
called a compost aerator, which is
sometimes called a composting tool
This device can be inserted from the
top of the compost. When it reaches
the desired depth, you release prongs
and pull it back through the com-
post. You mix and aerate the com-
post without the heavy lifting asso-
ciated with spading. Another idea is
to build your compost over a floor of
perforated pipe The pipe allows
aeration without turning the com-
post. You might also consider a
worm bin. Although it won't take
care of leaves and grass clippings, a
worm bin allows you to compost all
■ Handle it very carefully'
Antifreeze is extremely dan-
gerous to pets and children. A few
drops can kill small animals. We
recommend testing antifreeze be-
fore replacing it, to be sure it really
needs changing. You may be able to
go years and tens of thousands of
miles by only*-adding a little fresh
antifreeze and water. If you must
change it, call the business you take
your used oil to and ask if they also
recycle antifreeze. Never pour it
into your curbside storm drain be-
cause it will go directly into rivers
and streams, affecting water sup-
plies and killing some aquatic life
Antifreeze is usually accepted on
