FOUR SPECIAL TRAINS
2 feature of The News is its own tr:in service. In October, 183. The
S-: eon News inaugurated a special train over the G., I-. and H. Railway
bt:. e n Galveston and Houston for the purpose of an early delivery of the
pa::r over the entire city of Houston, arriving at Houston at 5:35 a. m., and to
i.'"connection with all trains out of that place. This service proved so sat-
i.ia.'to " that shortly after the establishment of The Dallas News a special
ur. ce was begun on the H. and T. C. Railway between Dallas and Denison,
rc:'hing Denison at 5:20 a. in. Also one over the T. and P. Railway, Dallas
tr For 'WVorth, reaching that place at 5:15 a. in. All these trains have run
ec y day since the beginning.
The fourth special train was inaugurated on Aug. 9, 1908. to run on the
I Perurban line between Dallas and Fort Worth, leaving Dallas at 2 a. in.
:i reaching Fort Worth at a. mn.. there connecting with the Fort 'Vorth and
tio Grande Railway for Brownwood, San Angelo, etc.
This special service enables The Galveston News to reach Houston in time
to distribute the paper to its subscribers equally as early as the local Dpaper.
and insures close connection with trains for Belaumlont, Orange. Lake Charles
a'd the East, hi way of New Orleans. In addition, it makes close connection
with all connecting lines between Houston and New Orleans.
The Dallas News serves Fort 'Worth, Denison, Sherman, McKinney and
many other towns in time to be delivered before or by the breakfast hour.
