Streets Being Paved
Fix Associa&s, Tyler, consulting
engineering firm for ‘the city,
showed the Council specifications
for the new well and was instruc-
ted to advertise for bids.
The contract for drilling tha
new well, including pump and
pipe installation, will be awarded 1
at the April meeting of the Co-
uncil, scheduled for April 10th.
Under way this week in var-
ious parts of the city is resur-
facing of some streets, with the
work being done by the Austin
Worth Construction Company un-
der contract from the city.
Graham Street north of Broad,
Dubose between University and
Sycamore, Stone from the rail-
road to Kilpatrick, and all of
Peachtree Drive are included in
the resurfacing project.
Ccst of the initial street pro-
ject is estimated at $5,379, ac-
cording to Mayor Joe Smith,
with payment to be made by iss-
uance of warrants from the re-
cently-approved warrant fund.
The mayor said that the Coun-
cil had accepted the Austin Worth
bid for resurfacing since the Com-
pany was already set up in the
area and could give such a low
price"Tor quality work.
