Exercise Voting Rights'
Theme Of Delphians'Skit
I humorous one-act skit on When the playlet began, Mr.
to Bates (played by Mrs. Sula
• Elder) wag lazily reclining and
reading the paper while Mrs.
Bates (Mrs. Una Blalock) was
sitting in a rocker knitting.
The Good Citizen (Mrs. Regl-
an), passing by on the way to
vote, stopped to chat with the
Bates’ and inquired iff they had
voted. Mr. Bates replied that his
vote wouldn't make any differ-
ence; Good Citizen disagreed,
urging the ~ewupie to go ▼ote*~——
but to no avail.
After the visitor leaves, Mrs.
Bates announces that the chicken
she had cooked is ready to eat.
But when Mr. Bates ari^gs fchd
starts to the kitchen for his meal,
he is stopped by a policeman
i Mrs. Benjamin Beall) who an-
nounces that “Eating chicken
workers together withplut uecu yuled outtM ----
While Mr.. Bates ia still argu-
ing about his right U> eat chick-
en, two chickens (Mrs. Tom
Reitch and Miss Ev<i Skelton)
come ontd lhe scene flapping their
wings and crowing over the new
law!”
Finally, Mr. Bates rushes t o
the polls to vote just before the
closing time, to express Iris opin-
ion.
The moral of the skit, the mem-
bers wete informed, is "Let your
vote count — or keep silent!"
