howsomever that it was not Robert
Service or Edgar Guest, and just
leave it at that. I ain't much of a
hand at looking things up. as most
of my readers know. The Lord
knows I've told them often enough.
In my seven decades I've tried
my hand at most everything except
glue sniffing and dying, and I
wouldn't take a Yankee dime for the
experience. Like the guy who was
educated beyond his intellect and
promoted beyond his capabilities.
I've got the accumulated scars to
vouch for my participation-but few '

A friend of mine. John, has a
secret desire to outdo Evel Kneivel
on a Harley, and his good w ife has
probably saved his neck by
convincing him he don't need no
motorcycle.
Another buddy, Lannes, has a
gift at snake handling and bur-
lesque. but he ain't quit his day job.
Old Harley is an artist by trade
and peddles his pictures for
exorbitant amounts, but deep down
he has a feeling that he art to have
been a C&W Singer. He made a
trip or two to the Stephenville
Opry, and I believe he's on the road
to recovering his mind.
Anyways, you can see what I'm
trying to say-that famous Poet was
mighty close to the mark in the
opening statement, or line, of this
epistle. We all want to do some-
thing else besides whatever we do
to put groceries on the table.
The other day I was in a local
coffee dispensing establishment
when Kent Boswell moseyed in and
sat at my table I’m always glad to
see him and very cordial when he
"sets" and visits. Since I don't have
a job. I can normally sweat him out.
and if he has to leave first he'll
sometimes buy my coffee. I never
refuse to allow him the privilege,
since I don't want to hurt his
feelings. Besides. I bought him a
cup back in 1985. shortly after I
moved to this country.
That day Kent was not his usual
jovial self. He squirmed in his chair
and ever so often he’d claw at his
body in various and sundry
locations. He gave the inside of his
right wrist a going over and a little
rivulet of blood coursed down to
this elbow and dripped on the floor.
"Itch? I asked
"Poison Oak. " he responded as
he clawed at his chest. "It's driving
me nuts!"
"What are you doing for it?"
"Scratching." he said. "I've tried
everything but I can't seem to get
