Leon Hospital’s first baby of 1987. He arrived at 3:54 p.m. on Jan. 0,
weighing 7 lbs. 5 os. and was 30” long. Grandparents are Koger and
Bessie Shupp. Also pictured is Jennifer Mart', the clinic’s obstetrics
nurse. The baby was delivered by Dr. Forrest Eisenrich.

The Family of Alex Rodgers
JOSEPH NISBETT
Joseph Newman Nisbett, 83, died
Thursday, Jan. 8, 1987, at a local
hospital.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m.
Saturday at Sipe Springs Cemetery
with Jack Bledshoe officiating,
directed by De Leon Funeral Home
of De Leon.
He was born in Callahan County.
He was a retired Church of Christ
-minister and a retired carpenter.
He was the widower of Eula Trout
Nisbett.
We would like to thank ail of our
friends for their love and concern
shown during the lose of our father
and grandfather, Alex Rodgers.
The food, flowers, phone calls,
and visits were greatly appreci-
grandchildren; and several great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by one son, Bill, a brother,
Cowden, and a sister, Bessie Hattox.
Music for the service was
provided by Al Strasner, Pearl
Pagel

daughter, Gertrude LaVonna
Rogers of Comanche; a brother,

s.m. with Rev. Melvin Fields
officiating. Burial was in Round
Grove Cemetery under the direction
of Nowlin Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandsons
Jimmy Mahan, Toby Mahan, Buzzy
Mahan, Joey Mahan, Danny Mahan,
Donny Mahan, Dwayne Mahan, and
Dusty Mahan. Music was furnished
by the Highlanders from Highland
Baptist Church.

Billy L. Pilcher at 18:90 am.
Saturday, Jan. 10, 1987, in the
Trinity Worship Center. Rev.
Marvin Andrews officiated, assisted
by Rev. David Moaser. Burial was
In De Leon Cemetery under the
direction of Nowlin Funeral Home.
BiUy Levelle Pilcher, age 82, was
bom in De Leon on Sept. 1, 1904, to
John and Canzada PoweU Pilcher
and lived here aU his life. He died in
De Leon Hospital on Jan. 7,1987, at
12:50 p.m. He was a retired fanner
and member of the United
Pentecostal Church.
He was married in 1927 in ♦
Comanche County to Rosa M.
Crownover who passed away in 1978.
He was married on December 9,
1979, to the former Mary Moreland
who survives.
Survivors besides his wife include
three sons, John Pilcher and Edgar
PUcher, both of Eunice, New
Mexico, and Jack PUcher of
Marshall, Texas; one stepson,
Norman Owen of Eastland; four
daughters, Nelsie MiUer of Zephyr,
Dorothy Singletary of Odessa,
Juanita SherriU of Marathon, and
Geneva Osborn of Muskogee,
Oklahoma; four sisters, Addie
HamUton and Gertie Bingham, both
of De Leon, Nora MiUer of Clyde,
and Idella Frazier of Comanche; 24
grandchildren; two step-
Leon; a sister, Delores Eureste of
Eden, Texas; four grandchildren,
Betty Escamilla and Josie Martinez,
both of De Loon, Ernest Gomez of
Edon, and Robert Gomez of
Comanche; eight great-
grandchildren, Jane Leal and
Emma Gonzales, both of De Leon;
Marilyn Martinez of Dallas,
Eamestine Gonzalos of California;
Ernest Escamilla III of De Leon;
Michele Perez of Brownwood,
Rosalinda Torres and Ernest Gomez
Jr., both of Edon; and nine great-
great-granchildren.
MODE ROBS MAHAN
Mode Roes Mahan, age 81, of De
Leon passed away Monday, Jan. 5,
1987, at 10 30 a.m. in the Do Loon
Nursing Home.
She was bom in Comanche County
on Dec. 1,1901, to the late Jake and
Huida Childress Row and Uved in
the De Leon area all her life. She
was the widow of James A. Mahan
whom she married on Nov 20, 1921,
in Comanche County. She was a
homemaker and a member of Round
Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors Include a daughter,
Ruth Hart of Godley, Texas; 13
grandchildren; and 29 great-
Guadalupe Catholic Church in Do
Loon with Father Jerry Frawley
officiating. Music for the service
was furnished by Don Haibrook,
organist.
Burial was la De Loon Cemetery
«MrartM by Nowlin Funeral Home.
Pallbearers wore Ernest Escamilla
III, Ernest Gomez Jr., Joe Martinez,
Thomas Leal, Fred Eureste and
Charlie Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers Is survived by a

ALEX TAYLOR RODGERS
Alex Taylor Rodgers, age 90, of De
Leon passed away at 11:32 a.m. Jan.
8,1987, in the De Leon Hospital.
A native of Cameron, Texas, he
was boro on Dec. 30, 1898, to
Anselmo and Mary Taylor Rodgers.
He came to De Leon in 1975 from
Eden, Texas, where he was
employed before retirement by the
City of Eden and was a member of
St. Charles Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Woodmen
of the world. He was married to the
former Maria Robles who preceded
him in death in 1977.
Rosary was at Nowlin Funeral
Home Chapel on Thursday evening
at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m.
