Leona loved to cook and bake. She would often whip up cakes, koiaches
and strudels from scratch, without the benefit of a recipe. She especially
loved spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to the
summer months when they would spend time with her. Another of her joys
was gardening and canning. She would can everything and anything - veg-
gies, fruits, jellies, or whatever she could get her hands on.
She loved to fish, whether it was in a tank, creek or river, or saltwater fish-
ing in the bay. She took great pleasure going on fishing trips to the coast
She is survived by six daughters: Nancy Ross and husband Russell of
Dripping Springs, Linda Veselka and husband Larry of Schulenburg, SGM
(retired) Lana Labay of Atlanta, Ga., Rose Schoenfeld and husband Dennis
of Austin, Carol Bludau and husband Laurence of Hallettsville, and Veronica
Muhlstein and husband Dennis of St. John;three sons: David Labay and wife
Dolores of Conroe, Duane Labay and wife Jane of Hallettsville, and Douglas
Labay of Hallettsville; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one sis-

He has appeared on numerous
television shows to tell his story
and is said to be the most docu-
mented miracle ever because he
has had so many X-rays, MRIs
etc. that chart his conditions and
healing.

It’s been a year since you passed and we miss and love you
very much, our dear wife, mother and grandmother.
Our memories of you will last forever
in our hearts.
A year ago today our lives were
forever changed. We lost our
husband, father and grandfather.
While the sorrow of your absence
is profound, our hearts are filled
with the spirit of your love. Your
wife, Eleanora and family loves
and misses you so very much.
