the three vessels is 353 feet
long and can carry 109 cars

ships feature spacious obser-

any of the ports along the
passage, so the Corleys stop-
ped for two days at each of
the ports of Ketchikan, Sitka,
and Juneau, catching a later
ferry at each place to continue
the trip. On reachingthefer-

resumed the trip into Alaska

As the sun sets briefly at

again, after a few hours of
twilight during the Alaskan
summer season, the Corleys

for sight-seeing. They stayed
three days in Fairbanks, vis-
iting places of attraction in
the city, and making side trips
to nearby areas. The route
to Anchorage was very scenic.
At Anchorage they attended
the two-day celebration on
July 4 and 5 and the Fair held
by the Eskimos. They visited
the Matanuska Valley farm-
ing area, and various sections
in and near Anchorage where
evidence of the terrible earth-
quake of 1964 may still be
seen.
They visited the famous
Portage Glacier, the Kenoi
Peninsula, and the towns of
Soldotna. Homer, and Seward,
where much evidence of the
earthquake were also to be
seen.
They especially enjoyed the
picturesque little seaport of
Valdez with its background of
lofty mountains, and spent two
days there. The area on the
