Leon is survived by his wife, Marcella Surman Langhamer; a brother, Alvin
Langhamer and wife Lynette of Schulenburg; a sister, Elizabeth Kotrola of San
Antonio; a sister-in-law, Gladys Surman of Schulenburg; and five children,
Greg Langhamer and wife Kelly of La Grange, Ron Langhamer and wife Lisa of
Schulenburg, Phyllis Venghaus and husband Dennis of Schulenburg, Sherry
Bubela and husband Corky of Schulenburg, and Leon John Langhamer and
wife Shelly of High Hill. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Langhamer
wife Margaret, Jimmy Surman and wife Wilma, Joe Surman, Ernest Surman
and wife Bernice, Henrietta Langhamer and Wilbert Albus.
The funeral was held on Friday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic
Church, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ty Bazar
officiated. Placing of the pall was by granddaughters Deanna Langhamer,
Stephanie Butler, Taylor Langhamer and Micayla Harden. Presenting the gifts
were great-grandchildren Lyssa Stromanis, David Butler, Zoe Langhamer,
Joe Venghaus, Ava Bubela, Brynn Bubela, Chandler Bubela, Kase Bubela
and Grant Langhamer.
Pallbearers weregrandsonsZachary Langhamer, BradleyLanghamer, Den-
nis Venghaus Jr., Dr. Brad Venghaus, Adam Venghaus, Chip Bubela, Chad

KC 4th Degree serves as honor guard at Praha veterans services
The Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, served as honor guard for Rev. Anthony Pesek of the Victoria Diocese on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the 55th annual Veterans Day
Services at Praha. All were in attendance at Mass at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Praha to honor all veterans and especially the nine
young men from Praha who gave their lives in World War II. The KC 4th Degree also participated in the Veterans Day Services at the St. Mary’s Cemetery after Mass.

St, Anne Society donates to flood victims
The St. Anne Society of High Hill recently donated $3,000 to Sacred Heart
Parish in La Grange to help the flood victims in Fayette County. On hand for the
presentation were (from left) Tonya Stang, St. Anne Society treasurer; Kathy

Leon Henry Langhamer
Leon Henry Langhamer, 83, of Schulen-
burg died on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.
Leon was born on July 14, 1934 in
Middle Creek to John and Paulina Demel
Langhamer. He graduated from Schulen-
burg High School and married Marcella
Surman at St. Mary's Church in Praha on
July 26, 1954.
Leon began working as a plumber for
Herbert Nordhausen after he graduated,
worked for Entex, and then worked for the
City of Schulenburg as a lineman for three
years. Leon and Marcella openedtheirbusi-
ness, Leon's Electric and Plumbing, in April
1959 and Leon worked as Master Electrician

Leon was a civic and church leader as he served on the Schulenburg
City Council for 28 years from 1975 to 2003 and as Chamber president from
1970-71. As a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Leon served as
Eucharistic Minister and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He
and his wife Marcella were strong supporters of St. Rose School and Bishop
Forest High School. Leon loved his family and his friends and enjoyed making
people laugh, and he loved raising cattle, hunting and fishing. He is known

His family writes: "Our world has been blessed with his 83 years of love
and service. He touched many lives and we know he heard our Lord say,
'Well done, my good and faithful servant' His work on earth was complete.
He will be forever missed."
Raub Zeller
Raub Zeller, 83, of Schulenburg, passed
away in his sleep on Wednesday, Nov.
8,2017.
Mr. Zeller retired to Schulenburg after
selling the family car wash in Austin and a
35-year career in sales. He was a proud U.S.
military veteran, serving in the U.S. Army on
the Berlin Wall during the Korean War and
as a medic in the Kansas National Guard.
Since arriving in Schulenburg, he faithfully
attended Zion Lutheran Church; recently
received his 10-year pin as a member of RAUB ZELLER
American Legion Post 143; and was an active member of the Lions Club until
health prohibited his involvement.
Raub spent many hours with his treasured Allis Chalmers tractors which
are still used on the family farm and in his garden. His love for the orange
tractors endured from his early years on the family farm in Rossville, Kan.

Church in Schulenburg.
