on Nov.11, 1956 at Moravia. After marriage, they moved to Rosenberg where he
was a machinist at WKM in Missouri City for 20 years. In 1978, the family moved
to Schulenburg, where Johnnie worked at lltex for nine years. After retiring as a
machinist, he worked at Chevron Autobahn, Food Mart and Andy's Food Mart.
"Jack," his nickname in Schulenburg, would tell everyone that Schulenburg
was
was being a rancher. He took very good care of his cattle and enjoyed watching
his herd. Jack also enjoyed dancing, music, fishing, and playing "42" dominos. He
enjoyed gardening and was given "yard of month" in Rosenberg twice. Jack liked
watching Sunday NFL football and several game shows daily, including "Wheel of
Fortune," 'The Price is Right" and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." He loved eat-
ing good Czech foods -especially koiaches and sweets with a hot cup of coffee.
Jack and Doris attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Doris
was the love of his life, and he also cared for his sister Irene after her husband's
death in the 1960s.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Manning and husband Dale

Alfred Paul Weber
Alfred Paul Weber, 89, of West Point,
passed away peacefully at home on
Sunday, July 3, 2016 surrounded by his
loving family.
Alfred was born on May 10, 1927 in
Fayette County, the son of Paul S. Weber
and Albina (Konvicka) Weber. He grew up
in the Mullins Prairie area and lived in the La
Grange area all his life. He married Dorothy
M. Votaw on Dec. 28,1948 at Zion Lutheran
Church in La Grange.
Alfred proudly served his country during
World War II in the 34th Infantry Division
of the U.S. Army. He worked as an electrician most of his life.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5254 and Mount
Calvary Lutheran Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 67years,Dorothy;four children,
Elaine Smith and husband Garland of Houston, Leroy Weber and wife Cindy
of West Point, Mary Targac and husband Deacon Joey of Hallettsville, and
Annie Chapman and husband Jim of Schulenburg; five grandchildren, Jason
Weber, Ashley Weber, Chris Targac and wife Misty, Matthew Targac and wife
Valerie, and Melissa Sommer and husband James; eight great-grandchildren,
three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; three siblings,
Gladys Ahlschlager, Henry Weber and wife Gladys, and Dorothy Drab, all of
La Grange; two brothers-in-law, Ed Votaw of Weimar and Eugene Votaw of
Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Martha Bordovsky
and Mary Ann Weber.
Family received friends on Wednesday, July 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig &
Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services were held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange
at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 7. Burial followed at Mount Calvary Lutheran
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos
Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945; Mount Calvary Lutheran
Church, 800 N. Franklin St., La Grange, TX 78945; or a charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home

Robert F. ‘Bob’ Koenig
Funeral services for Robert F. "Bob" Koenig, 93, were
held on Friday, July 1 from St. Michael Catholic Church
in Weimar at 3 p.m., with Msgr. John Bily officiating.
Visitation was held from 1 to 2:30 p.m., with rosary
recited at 2:30 p.m. Entombment was in the St. Michael
Catholic Mausoleum.
Robert was born to Stephen and Mary Stall Koenig
on Jan. 4, 1923 in Port Lavaca. As a small boy, his i
family returned to Weimar, where he grew up and
went to school. He graduated from Weimar High |
School in 1940. He also went to Blinn College for |
several semesters. He was employed by Houston
Central Gas Plant in Sheridan for 37 years, retiring in
1987. He married Ernestine Demel of Schulenburg in
1951 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg. They celebrated their 65th
anniversary in January.
Bob is survived by his wife; sons, Bob Koenig II and wife Mary of Aubrey,
DONALD K. CRAWFORD Chris Koenig and wife Sherry of Huntsville, Craig Koenig and wife Medora of
Dripping Springs, and Bruce Koenig of Austin; five grandchildren, two step-

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Doris; three brothers, Louis Lev,
Albin Lev and wife Eva, and Bernard Lev; two sisters, Bernice Darilek and husband
Adolf of Pearland, and Irene Mican and husband Victor of Hungerford; a sister-in-
law, Margie Anders Lev; two nephews, Joe Darilek and Michael Lev; and a niece,
Pat Adams.

Donald K. Crawford
Donald K. Crawford, 87, passed away on
Saturday, July 2,2016 in Nashville, Tenn.,
surrounded by his family and loving wife
of nearly 65 years.
He was born Nov. 29, 1928 on a farm
near Sabetha, Kan. to Milo and Mary
(Masterson) Crawford. After graduating
from Roswell High School, Don attended
Texas Tech where he received a degree in
industrial engineering. On Aug. 18, 1951
he married Romayne Therese Gibson. To-
gether they raised five children in a home
of unconditional love. After a successful
career as a business owner working in
engineering and sales in Houston, Don retired to a farm near Schulenburg to grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives

Johnnie C. ‘Jack’ Lev
Johnnie C. "Jack" Lev, age 83 years, 5 days,
passed away early Monday morning, July 4 at
Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center. He was
undergoing rehab after surgery, which was per-
formed a week prior to his death.
The funeral was held on Thursday, July 7 at
10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in High Hill,
followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev.
Ty Bazar officiated. Organistwas Peggy Kalich, and
vocalists were Amanda Brown and Trichelle Lev.
Pallbearers were grandsons Nicholas Rhoden of
Katy, Chad Rhoden of Pearland, Dalton Manning
of Schulenburg and Alex Garcia of Austin; and
nephews Matthew Sultenfuss of Austin and Paul
Lev of Richmond. Named as honorary pallbearers
were granddaughter Natalie Garcia of Austin; and sons-in-law Joseph Garcia of
Austin, Blake Rhoden of Weimar and Dale Manning of Schulenburg. In honor of
his service to his country, the family received the American flag at the graveside.
Rosary was said on Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten
