Schulenburg Lions Club seeks to promote leadership
and continuing education by offering
Nontraditional Student Scholarships.
The scholarship is open to residents of Schulenburg
and those who work in the community and live in the
tri-county area. A nontraditional student is someone
who delays enrollment after high school for personal
reasons, works full-time, has dependents such as
children and/or sick or elderly family members, is a
single parent, or attends part-time for at least part of
the academic year.
Applications are available at the Schulenburg Public
Library and Schulenburg City Hall. Applications need
to be turned to the library by Thursday, June 25.

Country Tykes Preschool holds ceremony
The Country Tykes Preschool held their ceremony on Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. at the Schulenburg Community
Center. The Pledge to the Flag was presented by the class and visitors. The class then did skit performances to “T-Rex
Tromp,” “Ten in the Bed” and “Vroom, Vroom, Beep.” Presentation of certificates were by Candice Schilhab (teacher and

Solo cup challenge
The SMART Girls program included a Solo cup
challenge. Members divided into teams and each
girlwasgivenapiece ofyarn, rubber band and the
same amount of Solo cups. Each tied her yarn to
the rubber band and by pulling and working as a
team, they had to stack their cups in a pyramid.

•Club Schedule - The Boys & Girls Club is open for the summer session.
Club hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., open to all youth
ages 6-18.
•Club Attendance - 423 youths were served last week for an average of
84.6 per day with a high of 94 on Tuesday, June 9. Current registered summer
membership is at 82.
•Program of the Week-Lastweek in arts and crafts program, Club members
made a rainbow out of handprints. The members cut out handprints in colors
of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple and then glued the hands on a
large piece of paper, making a very pretty rainbow.
