have we really connected with
God? Are our lives really being
changed because of our relationship
with Him.
And I’m not talking about focus-
ing on our sins. How we messed
up that week or how we need to
improve. Or how we should imitate
Christ like behavior.
You can’t give away what you
don’t have.
Are we just learning about Him
and not truly experiencing Him?
Who is He? Do you know?
Not too long ago I had the rare
opportunity to spend an entire day
alone with God. Just He and I. It
had been so long since we had more
than a couple of hours together.
I am bom again so His Spirit re-
sides in me and He will never leave
me or forsake me.
So where ever I go throughout
the day, He goes.
But even so, if I don’t conciously
take time to think only about Him
and concentrate on His word and
listen to Him, then my heart can
grow cold. If I don’t actually wrap
my life around Jesus and His word
around me then I can have Bible
verses posted all over my fridge or
my computer at work and deceive
myself that everything’s just fine.
God is a real live Person. He is
Spirit and He is truth. But He wants
relationship, not religious practice.
LEAN GROUND
CHUCK
complex workforce needs, the
academy was designed to provide
participants with the knowledge
and skills to achieve success and
advance more quickly as future
leaders.
This year-long professional
development opportunity has 13
participants who were selected,
based on specific criteria, from
applicants throughout the county.
The curriculum was designed by,
and will be delivered by, work-
force education professionals who
have extensive leadership experi-
ence in higher education and with
community based organizations.
Each participant will also be as-
signed a mentor from the NCWE
Board of Directors.
The academy is offered to co-
incide with the NCWE national
Those who worship Him must
worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
So that day I purposely chose to
spend the time with Him I didn’t tell
anyone, because I didn’t want any
distractions.
(Readers I may have told you
about this next event before, but it
bears repeating.)
After my husband left for work.
I listened to several praise and
worship songs. I sang to God and
thanked Him for how good He is.
Then I went outside just as the
sun was coming up and sat in our
swing. I was praying in the Spirit
(speaking in tongues) and listening
to the birds coming awake.
Just as the sun rose over the ho-
rizon, I felt the warmth and turned
my face towards it.
I smiled.
At that moment I truly sensed
with all my heart that God took a
picture of me.
It totally took me by surprise and
I can’t prove it to you in this lifetime
but I KNOW He did. (With God all
things are possible.)
Now some of you might scoff at
this and think I’m being silly or just
plan nuts. And your certainly wel-
come to your own opinion.
But how many of you have ever
taken a picture of your own chil-
dren. You wait for just the right mo-
ment to capture their smiles.
And you don’t think our Heav-
enly Father wouldn’t do the same
for us?
He loves to laugh with us. He is
Holy AND joyful. He is jealous for
us and kind hearted.
He loves us and needs to be
loved by us.
God doesn’t want us to just “play
church” with Him.
He wants our hearts totally de-
voted to loving Him and pressing in
_
towards Him. The Bible will bring
us closer to God.
I sat in that swing and shut out
the world and opened up my heart
to God’s word.
As I withdrew my mind from all
other distractions and just soaked
Him up I became filled with His
love and began to experience His
goodness.
There is no place on this Earth I
would rather be than in His presence.
God wants and has provided for
EVERY person to be able to have
an intimate relationship with Him.
Believing that God exists is not
enough, you must make your own
choice to receive Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Savior.
People/preacher/priest
baptize you into the kingdom of
God. Only God can do that through
His Holy Spirit. You MUST be bom
again in the Spirit by putting your
faith in Christ Jesus and receiv-
ing salvation purely by His grace
in order to be reconciled to God.
“For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of your-
selves, it is the GIFT of God, NOT
OF WORKS, lest anyone should
boast.” Eph. 2:8... “But what does it
say? ‘The word is near you, in your
mouth and in your heart (that is, the
word of faith which we preach):
that if you confess with your mouth
the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God has raised Him from
the dead, you will be saved. For
with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture says, “Whoever
believes on Him will not be put to
shame.” Romans 10:8-11

Dear Readers, I wrote this col-
umn several years ago but there is
such a demand on our time these
days I needed this reminder to slow
down
This verse from the Old Testa-
ment is a prophesy for this day and
rings hue!
“But you, Daniel, shut up the
words, and seal the book until the
time of the end; many shall run to
and fro, and knowledge shall in-
crease.” Daniel 12:4
The minute these words left my
mouth on Sunday morning I knew
something wasn’t right.
I guess I might as well have add-
ed, “If you want, we can talk when
I get home. Maybe after breakfast,
and the dishes are done. Oh and I
need to wash the car before it rains,
too. Ooops, wait, I totally forgot
that I wanted to make some soup.
Guess, I’ll have to go grocery shop-
ping also. Well, it looks like my
dance card is getting pretty full.
Maybe we can spend some time
tomorrow morning before I go to
work. I’ll get up extra early to make
up for it.
“But I need to get going for now.
Don’t want to miss praise and wor-
ship!
We’ve got a great ministry there.
It really lifts me up!! Hey, I think
you’d like it!”
Of course I’m being sarcastic,
but it was actually one of those mo-
ments when I had no more words.
Whether we are in a building or not.
I believe that many times we act
this way.
We can read all the books about
God, listen to the testimonies, sing
our hearts out, get on our knees,
recite the prayers, listen to the mes-
sages, complete the ceremonies,
take the communion, and even
quote a few Bible verses. But

pants will have the opportunity to

“Given NCWE’s leadership
position in workforce education
and training, it seemed logical
that we would focus our efforts
on training the next generation
of workforce leaders in higher
education.” says Jo Alice Blon-
din, NCWE Board president and
president at Clark State Commu-
nity College. “We look forward
to the impact that these emerging
leaders will have on the future of
workforce development.”

To help improve the workforce
education throughout the country,
Alvin Community College Allied
Health Director Dr. Stacy Ebert
was chosen to participate in a na-
tional organization
The New Workforce Profes-
sionals Academy was created by
the National Council for Work-
force Education (NCWE) to ad-
vance knowledge and skill devel-
opment for community college
workforce education professionals
who are relatively new to the field
of workforce education.
“This is a good opportunity to
help me develop my knowledge
and leadership skills in workforce
education and training,” Ebert
said. “I hope to bring back new and
innovative ideas that will help en-
hance and grow ACC’s workforce/
technical training programs.”
ACC President Christal M. Al-
brecht has served as president of
the NCWE Board of Directors
from 2016-17. She has been a

I read all the facts about Alvin Community College as prepared by
Mr. Tacquard. What an obvious picture of a glass half empty vs. a glass
half full as presented by a stalworth of our community
I attended Alvin Schools - Grade 1-12 Graduating in 1972, with
all grades located on the main campus. Today there is not a single
classroom left standing that I sat in, only the High School Stadium
and Auditorium still exist in some form as I knew it. So yes Mr.
Tacquard sometimes you have to tear down the old, because there just
aren’t enough bandaids to hold it together anymore.
Walk through the ACC campus, tour the buildings see the
realities of years of use. Some of these buildings have served their
purpose, sent thousands in our community to a better life, and just
like my classrooms growing up, are ready to pass the torch to the next
generation of facilities armed with current and new technological
advancements. These are the tools ACC students and faculty need to
compete in a very rapidly changing world. How can we consciously
and honestly ask our students and faculty to compete with one hand
tied behind their back?
Our Faculty is outstanding, our Community and students
deserving. The only waste I see is the gradual dismantling of years of
hard work, leadership and dreams of the founders of this college.
Go VISIT the technical building, in particular the - welding
curriculum department. The facility considered adequate by Mr.
Tacquard is basically of WW.II vintage and still competes for industry
recognition. Just imagine the impact a new facility will have on
programs such as these. The list goes on. ACC students need mentors,
leaders and visionaries, not friends like Mr. Tacquard, to carry them
into the Future!
