Round Top Church
Celebration Bunday
Ninety years ago the Bethle-
hem Lutheran church at Round
Top was built with stone quar-
ried out of the hill it stands on
and cedar lumber cut from trees
growing nearby.
Recently the walls were
paired and the church
decorated.
This 90th anniversary of the
church will be observed hear
Sunday, when a special service
wHl be held at 10 AM. Dr. Wm.
F. Kraushaar, President Emer-
itus of Texas Lutheran College,
Seguin, will deliver the festival
sermon. Many former members
who have moved to other sec-
tions of the state are expected
to be president for the occasion.
At the same time, the new
educational building a frame
structure with brick veneer will
be dedicated. The building is 52
by 80 feet.
In this special service Dr. A-
G. Wiederaenders, a son of the
congregation and now Professor
of Social Science at Texas Luth-
eran College, will deliver the
sermon.
In the afternoon, at 2 PM,
there will be a praise service in
the Education building in which
choirs from neighboring church-
es will participate and pastors
will bring greetings.
A barbecue dinner will be
served at noon. Preparations are
being made to accomodate 2000
people.
The services in the church and
educational building at 10 AM,
the barbecue dinner at noon, the
program at 2 PM and refresh-
ments of cake and coffee in the
afternoon will be the activities
of the day.
Ladies Aid Meeting-Social Held
The Ladles Aid met for their
regular meeting Wednesday af-
ternoon, June 6 with 23 mem-
bers and the Rev. A B Weiss
present.
Two hymns, “Pass Me Not O
Gentle Savior’’ and "Now Thank
We All Our God’’ were sung.
The Bible study based on 1st
Corinthians, chapters 3 and 13
and the prayer were given by
Rev. Weiss.
Important discussions and
making final plans for the cele-
bration of the 90th anniversary
of the Bethlehem Lutheran
Church and the dedication of
the new Educational building on
June 17 were the main topics of
the meeting.
It was decided to serve refreh-
ments of cake and coffee in the
afternoon for the celebration.
All members of the congregation
are asked to bring a cake, cook-
ies or pies.
It is also asked if anyone who
has flowers to bring them to the
Educations) building late Sat-
urday evening before the cele-
bration.
A clean-up day for the church
and the new building was set to
be held Thursday morning, June
