Life Saturday
John Kenneth Locke was born
at Alexander City, Alabama, on
September 22, 1896, and passed
away at his horrye in De Leon,
Texas, July 7, 1956, being 59
years, 9 months and 15 days of
age at the time of his passing.
Mr. Locke came to Texas about
55 years ago, and had been a res-
ident of our community for that
length of time.
Mr. Locke attended
school in his youth,

in the church parlor. Assisting

Mrs. J. T. Shelton. Miss Shirley
Wall presided at the guest book.
The bride’s going-away suit
was a two-pie«e brown linen
trimmed in white. Her shoes
and bag were white, and she
wore the orchid from her bou-
quet.
After a brief honeymoon in
Northern New Mexico, the cou-
ple will make their home at 1213

que, N.M.

Locke of De Leon. Also surviving
are a host of nieces, nephews and
other relatives.
Mr Locke was a faithful mem
ber of the Methodist church.'
Funeral services were con-
ducted at the First Methodist
Church in De Leon with Rev.
Floyd Thrash of Fort Worth of-
ficiating, assisted by Rev Paul
Wiseman. Music was furnished
by the Men’s Bible Class of the
Methodist Church under the di-
rection of Homer Hafford, with
Mrs. Gladys Holdridge at the or-
gan.
Pall bearers were Frank Me
Crum, E. Y. (Zeke) Morris,
Verle McKelvey, Fred Adcock,
Clyde Wall, Woodley Sadberry,
Olin Oglesby and John Wall.
Flower bearers were Bernice
McKelvey, Blanche Morris, Mag-
gie Powell, Jewel Morris, Erma
Lee Morris, Mary Alice McCrum,
Exa Oglesby, Jewel Wall, Betty
Sadberry, Monmie Bell Sadberry,
Irene Bruce, Pearl Spruill, Ber-
tha Adcock.
Interment was in the De Leon
cemetery. Sharp and Nabors Fu-
neral Home was in charge of ar-
rangements.

July 8 through July 17.

Enjoys Meeting
The Wesleyan Service GpiM
spent a most delightful evening
Tuesday, July 10 in the lovely
home of Miss Mary Kimble.
A delicious meal was served
consisting of boiled ham, deviled
eggs, potato salad, pickles, spic-
ed peaches, green beans, corn,
cantaloupe, hot rolls, butter and
iced tea. A delicious dessert of
angel food cak£, ice cream, pe-
can pie and peach pie was served
ed. Mrs. A. C. Schumpn returned
thanks.
A short business session was
held with Mrs. A. P. Schmidt, the
president, in charge.

Becomes Bride Of
Joe Wz. Holdridge
In a candle light ceremony
Friday, June 15, at 8 p.m. in
Central Methodist Church, Al-
buquersue, N.M., Mass Diane Poo!
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ches-
ter Pool, 618 Dartmouth, N.E.,
became the bride of Joe W. Hol-
dridge. Mr. Holdridge is the son
of Mr. and Mrs Lee W Holdridge
of De Leon.
The Rev. Robert F. Naylor
performed the double ring cere-
mony. ITeceding the ceremony,
Robert Brown sang “O Perfect
Love” and "The Pledge”. At the
close he sang "The Lord’s Pray-
er”. Appropriate selections were
played by Al Kellar at the or-
gan.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a gown of
imported sand-clipped chantilly
lace and pleated nylon tulle.
The off-shoulder neck was of
pleated tulle continuing into tight
short sleeves. A bodice of lace
and a full circular lace skirt ex-
tended to fingertip length over a
bouffance of pleated tulle. Her
veil of pure silk illusion was
complimented with a tiara bor-
dered with seed pearls. The
bride’s bouquet was an orchid
carried on a white Bible.
Mrs. Dan Kloss of Layton,
Utah, was the bride’s matron of
honor.
Her gown was deep blue cry-
stallete. It was of ballerina
length with a styled princess
waitsline and off-shoulder neck
designed with ft wide fold trim-
med with scallops of Venetian
lace. The straight Sabina neck of
the front collar was carried to a
deep V in the back. Her bouquet
was a crescent of rose carnations.
Bridal attendants were Mrs.
Dan A. Peterson and Miss Mar-
tha Cribb of Albuquerque, and
Miss Ermilee Holdridge, sister of
tl\e groom, of Mexia, Texas.
They wore costumes identical
to the matron of honor. The
flowergirl was Mi’s Mildred
McKay of Ignacio, Colo. She
wore a dress of blue dotted Swiss
nylon. The candles were lighted
by Mrs. Jack Williams and Mrs.
William Reeves, who wore choir
robes.
Mrs. Pool, mother of the bride,
chose a navy linen trimmed with
braid and sequins. Her corsage
was of pink carnations.
Mrs. Holdridge, mother of the
groom, wore a pink lace gown.
