ONLY PAPER IN STONEWALL COUNTY
'OLUME 20
ASPERMONT, TEXAS. THURSDAY, JUNE 27. 1918
NUMBER 49
Did You Ever
Hear of a candidate for Coun-
ty office, withdrawing from the
race and at the same time, pub-
and through the columns of
a newspaper ''beseech" his
"'many" friends to vote for and
support another candidate for
the same office? And also nam-
ing him? While I, ordinarily am
glad, when any of my opponents
at any time want to quit 'hitting
the trail' for political honor, I
do not think it quite fair that
the withdrawing one publicly an-
nounces that he wants his
friends, and beseeches them
to vote the way he
wants them to as though there
would be a severe calamity be-
fall us, should they vote for me.
I refer to an article on the 6th
page of the issue of June 22nd
Aspermont Star; in which Mc-
Clure has withdrawn, and wants
his support to go to C. E Bran-
nen~I suppose it was a case of
personal choice on Mr. McClures
part, but don't you think it is
going some to make such state-
ments in the columns of a news
paper? I do

A Correction
In my announcement for Coun-
ty Judge ia the issue of June 13,
of the Aspermont Star there
was a mistake in the figures
showing the county's present
outstanding indebtedness, in-
stead of reading $221,000.00 it
should have read $161,145.00.
A. R. Floyd
it was our mistake that this
correction did not appear in last
week's issue.—Ed.
