HISTORICAL TRIVIA: Who signed
ConstitQtion of the United Slates first?
Why. John Hancock!
History tells us this First scrutiny of the
ConadtuUon affirms it. But did he really? And if
not. who did?
Until recently, there was little question, but
now there seems to be evidence that he did not.
The document is not signed (often in couples,
exactly here and there. However, take another
look!
It has been pretty well proven that certain
persons were absent during the first day snd
evening of the signing; nor were the quill and ink
precisely identical. The latter could of course be
explained.
Nevertheless. upon closer observance, you will
notice a certain structure, a certain pattern of
names. Hancock's as first has been questioned in
many American memorabilia circles, and so are
oth«.».
The men who affixed their names were not
fools. They were prudent people who wanted to
keep life and limb together
Did they sign in whet is now called a round
robin?** Or. as some refer to tt. "beating the
devil around the bush?'*
