Forecast to Coming Week.
1 Ausgn, Tex.: If all indications fail
not the coming week will be a busy
one in the House of Representatives.
Several Important measures are set
for this week, some of which will be
threshed out to a finish and others
of which wfll go through like a streak.
Blanton s pure food Mil. which, as it
now provides, is similar to the Federal
act and has incorporated within its
provisions the patent medicine regu-
lation, will probably have a clear line
from start to finish, as it has been
thoroughly digested and assimilated
and expurgated by the committee re-
porting it and by many members of
the House, it is set for Tuesday.
The public school uniform text
book law, providing that all cities
shall come within its provisions, is on
the calendar for Monday. This bill
will evidently stir up considerable
strife and perhaps wffl pe postponed
a time or two before Us Anal passage.
Probably the most important meas-
ure of the week Is Gafford's anti-free
pass bill and the substitutes thereto,
which will be discussed Wednesday in
conjunction with the Senate and free
pass bill. There is no doubt about
its passage, but the House Is still all
np in the air as to Just what exemp-
. . tions will be permitted to attach
so that one-half of It shall go to said thereto.
« The Baskin-McGregor liquor mens-
nre wfll be ]ut on the boards Tues-
day and several amendments offered
on the floor of the House. An amend-
ment will be offered cutting the pres-
ent license down, while quite a num-
ber of minor amendments are expect-
ed to arise at the last moment On
the whole, the MU will pass as for-
merly synopslxed.
The following Mils are pn their
final reading and are due to be reached
this week in pfoper course of busi-
ness: - -
Thompson’s MB licensing liquor
agents and solicitors.
Strickland’s MB providing that com-
mission merchant ahall give fZ.Ofltl

fying property tax board.

viding for a plurality election.

school lands. Stale lands aad asylums
lands may also be reached this week

tn connection with the Senate's defi-
ciency appropriation Mfl. It Is not
