Area firefighters were called to
County Road 108 Wednesday
where a tank battery was on fire
after being struck by lightening.
Assisting Clayton volunteer fire-
fighters with the blaze were mem-
bers of the Carthage Volunteer Fire
Department as well as a Taylor
Service Company water truck.
According to Carthage Fire
Marshal Guy Bunyard, the fire that
completely destroyed a Zastar-
owned tank battery, began at 10:53
p.m., during Wednesday's thunder-
storms. The storm that sparked the
blaze also ushered cooler
temperatures into the region. But
not before the tank battery was
totally engulfed and completely
destroyed by flames.
In an effort to extinguish the
flames and save two adjacent tank
batteries, firefighters used chemical
foam and called for the assistance
of Taylor Service Company, which
provided a water lank truck.
and vote for it," he added.
At the public hearing, residents
of the proposed district will have
the opportunity to speak their
minds for or against the issue. Ev-
eryone who signs up to talk will
have the chance to express his or
her opinion, Cordray said. The
court may be forced to adjourn the
hearing and continue it the follow-
ing day if a large number of people
wish to have their say.

any other project." Mackechney
stated.
She explained that although it
was not unusual to be contacted by
a company of this type, especially
during the holiday season, this par-
ticular business employed repre-
sentatives posing as herself —
complete with her business card
from Comprehensive Home Health
Care.
The matter first came to her
attention after a Carthage business
woman wrote a $500 check to the
organization. After issuing the
check, according to Carthage
Assistant Chief Jim Vanover, the
woman contacted the police
department, who began to make
inquiries of their own.
Following the department's in-
vestigation, it was determined the
community service group was op-
erating fraudulently.
The company, who routinely
solicits chaintable contributions
from a 15-county area, has been
under investigation by members of
the Longview Police Department.
Anyone who is contacted by a
company claiming to be taking do-
nations for Comprehensive Home
Health Care, Inc. should contact
Longview Police officer Tom
Blanton at (903)237-1159.

Dianne Mackechney, is associated

stated
