Dennis the Menace had just
come out of church with his
parents. He looked up at his pastor
and said, "How about next week,
just for fun, you tell us about some
of the things we do right?" Do you
sometimes feel like Dennis? You
get to church, in your pew on time,
and get hit with all the things the
preacher wants to say to all those
who did not come.
I guess 1 am with Dennis, I want
to hear a little good stuff once in
awhile. Send us home thinking we
have done, at least, some things
right, and who knows, we might try
to do even better next week.
Church is not the only time we
get chewed on. I have a grandson
who had a very good job selling
pharmaceuticals. He was leading in
sales on several occasions. His
supervisor kept after him to sell

yes, the boss told him, "you do a lot
of things rig^t, but I don't get paid
for telling you what you do right."
My thought was, if not, why not. It
never hurts anyone to be
encouraged.
How about in our homes? Do
we withhold the good that is in our
mates or our children so we can
lambaste them with their faults? I
know I am guilty some of the time.
Deep down I know that a pat on the
back goes a lot further than a
criticism.
Lord, keep us straight in our
thinking, for as we think, so are we.
