reunion Monday
The annual ten-
community Labor Day
Reunion will be held at
Moutain Springs. Monday,
September 5 beginning
with registration at 10am
in the Mountain Springs
Community Center. The
comedy-inspired program
will begin at 11 and adjourn
for a covered dish luncheon
at noon.

The United Methodist
Church of Krum completed
their Vacation Bible School
Friday, August 19.
Their Average
attendance was 61 kiddoes.
The church members held
an open house celebration
at 7pm on Friday with all of
the parents invited to visit
the classrooms to view the
crafts their children had
learned during the five day
attendance. Approximately
120 were present for the
celebration.

Manning Construction
has already completed the
first phase of work toward
the Krum streets which
included some patching
and leveling. The rest of
the work will be done by
Denton County.
Street Superintendent
Conrad Shifflett said the
plans are to do the rest of
the streets in Krum next
year. There are hopes of
enough money available for
all of the rest of the streets
by then.
The Baptist young people
of Krum plan a ••Cool-Pool”
party August 31 in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Rich
Gamon.
Bobby Lane left August
26 to enroll for his second
year at A&M.
Kevin Lane plans to
enroll at the University of
North Texas.
Mr. Carl Lane, minister of
the Krum First Baptist
Church, will start back to
school next week when he
plans to enroll at the
Seminary of Southwestern
Baptist College.
Fifteen members of the
Krum First Baptist Church
returned home August 13
from Cripple Creek,
Colorado. They reported a
good Vacation Bible School
and a good deal of work was
done on the church building
while they were there.

Kathy Fehler, Camp Fire
leader of Krum, reported
the first meeting of the
Camp Fires will be
Tuesday, September 13 and
7pm in the elementary
school cafeteria. This
meeting will be to recruit
both leaders and members
for the Camp Fire.

the loss of her father,
Samuel Morin, 59, of
Denton, who passed away
Tuesday in a Farmingham,
Massachusetts hospital.

Dennis Story, 41, of
Carrollton, died August 19,
in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. Services were held
Hospital.

Michael Morrow of Krum, in
___■ loss of his father,
Ruehen Morrow, 62, of
Denton. Mr. Morrow passed
away on August 22 in
Aubrey.
The program entitled.
“Mountain Annie at the
Quilting Bee” will feature
the homespun newspaper
columnist created for the
1981 reunion. Portrayed by
Odess Isbell, Moutain Annie
has appeared twice since.
Annie’s interview with the
local quilters will spoof the
dozen plus ladies who
converge at the community
— center once a week from
September to June to quilt,
pass the news, and enjoy
each other’s company.
Another feature will be the
piano-mime performance
by quilter Sue Viktor.
Anyone who has lived in
or is interested in the ten
communities of Bloomfield,
Burns City, Prairie Grove,
Oak Hill, Needmore,
Walling, Mt. Olive,
Hemming, Mountain
Springs, and Union Grove
are invited to the day of fun
and visiting.
For comfort, it is
suggested visitors bring a
folding chair. Plates,
cutlery and iced tea will be
furnished.

The meeting of the Krum
School Board was held
Thursday. August 25 in the
high school library with all the
members present but one.
The purpose of the
meeting was a public
hearing on the proposed tax
rate. Mr. Enis explained
that the tax increase was
due to 34.35% of the 1988
bond issue that was passed
and the increase on
maintenance operation of
the school tax was 2.98%.
There wasn't a large
crowd, but ther was no
dissenion to the members
present after they heard the
explanation.
There will be another
special called meeting,
Monday, August 29 at
7:30pm for the distirct to
set the tax rate for the
1988-89 school year.

4-H Club of Krum will be
September 7 at the
elementary school
cafeteria at 8pm.

Marc of Fort Worth were
Krum visitors on Thursday.

Marvin Landers, 66, of
