50TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Lillard
residents of Durant, Okla, for
40 years, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary Sun-
day afternoon, Aug. 25th
with 150 relatives and friends
attending an open house, at
the American Legion Hall in
Durant.
Children of the couple hosted
the affair. The eleven children
and families were present for
the celebration.
'Hie honorees and the child-
ren welcomed the guests.
The refreshment table was
covered with a lace cloth and
centered with an arrangement
of various kinds of gold colored
flowers, featuring the golden
theme. The three tiered wed-
ding cake topped with the gold
numeral* " 60“ and a bride and
*■ table decorations.
Orange frosted punch with
the cake was served fie guests.
Mrs. Lillard, the former Miss
> r Ethel Higgins is a native of
, Myra. Lillard was born in Col-
lin County. The couple was
married Aug. 25th 1913 in Gain-
esville.
Two of their children, Mb.
Mary Carter and Mrs. Virginia
Stanford reside in Sanger, Mrs.
Lillard’s sister Mrs. Mattie
Higgins
Sanger.
The Carter and Stanford
families and Mr. and Mrs.
Gregory attended the Sunday
event.

A wedding of interest to
numerous Sanger relatives and
friends was that of Jerry Glenn
Me Daniel of Arlington, nephew
of Mrs. Sam Riggs and T. W.
(Tommy) McDaniel, to Miss
Beverly Elaine McCullough of
Lakeland, Florida. The cere-
mony was performed in the
chapel of The First Baptist
Church in Lakeland on Friday,
August 8th at 8 p.m.
The newlyweds will make
their home at Ellington Air
Force Base near Houston for
two years.’McDaniel has re-
cently returned from service
in Newfoundland.
The bride is die daughter of
Mrs. Hazel L. McCullough of
Lakeland and Andrew J. Mc-
Cullough of Cape Coral. The
bridegroom's parents were the
late Mr. and Mrs. Berry Mc-
Daniel.

Baptist Church at Winters.
Burial was in Lakeview Ceme-
tery.
Mr. Johnson passed away Fri-
day morning, August 23rd in
John Sealy Hospital in Galves-
ton, where he had been hos-
pitalized a in o n t h with
leukemia.
He was a native of Bryan
County Oklahoma, the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. J. O.
Johnson. He was an oil field'
driller employed by Lamar-
Moore Drilling Co. of Winters.
He served in the army in the
South Pacific during World War
ll. Ha «raa a mambar of the
Baptist Church.
Survivdn are his wife, two
daughters, a son and a step-
son, three sisters and three
brothers including Rev. James
N. Johnson of Sanger.
