From the South of Germany
comes a centuries-old custom
of making Little Prune Peo-

and eating. IM
Legend has it that the ap- EMM

luck and good harvest during 7*™
the coming year They take on
characterizations of people of
all ages and occupations, in-
cluding St. Nicholas himself.
If Dad has some heavy wire
and some scraps of plywood 4
in his workshop, and if fruits fa
and nuts are on hand <as they ■
usually are at Christmas >, al- '
most any family could make | '
iome “lucky little prune peo-
pie” this Yuletide. For groups
large or small, planned or im-
promptu parties, the creation
of prune people could be an
enjoyable Christmas Day pas-
time.
Most people will quickly L flfiJO
come up with their own ideas
for prune characters they
would like to create. The char-
acterizations are limited only;
