Emergency Service
By Vickie Lewis
Staying together these
days is difficult In times
when financial pressure and
stressful circumstances seem
to drive couples apart. It Is
In these circumstances that
we come to really admire and
appreciate couples like John
and Lucille George.
John and Lucille George
were married July 17. 1917
In Aubrey, and have lived In
Sanger since childhood. The
George's have eleven
children and twenty six
grandchildren. And state
there is no way to count the
great-grandchildren and
great - great - grandchildren
that round out the five
generations of George's
living in the Sanger area.
Ms. George said they didn't
particularly set out to have
such a large family, but
described a home life full of
hard work, and lots of love.
"God Just sent 'em to u5t I
guess. It was hard, but we
made it all right."
John George, or "Daddy
John" as he Is affectionately
called by most of the George
clan. Is 90 years old, one of
the oldest people in Sanger.
He has many good memories
about Sanger as It grew and
developed, and states the
biggest Improvements have
been to Sanger roads.
The roads have Improved
200 percent," says Mr.
George. "People now don't
have any idea how bad It
was. You had to be pretty
good driver to drive a wagon
on Sanger streets those days.
If you got In a rut, you
couldn't get out of It."
Things have not been easy
on the George s: their family
has faced many obstacles
and tough times, but rather
than being separated by
them, the George's say they
let tough times bring them
together. Mr. and Mrs.
George's marriage was tested
from the beglnnlng---the
very beginning. When we
asked Mrs. George where
their honeymoon was spent,
she chuckled and responded
"In the storm cellar." The
couple "weathered" the storm
In the cellar and remember
the event fondly.
"Daddy John" George
remembers the tough times
the great depression caused
for him and his family. He
remembers working for "a
dollar a day," and says the
work was "hard work, too."
He built fences, worked on
houses and did other
carpentry at that rate for
many years.
Mr. George Is a retired
carpenter and has been In
the carpentry field for more
than 50 years. He states he
that folks Just want to stay!
Inside. We still believe that!
quality is the best value." I
The folks at EMF alsd
believe that television Is still
the cheapest form of famlll
entertainment. With thR
multiple outlet systems EMF
Installs, family member^
can view several different
channels (on different
television sets) without
Interference or "snow."
We'd like to see everybody
have the highest qual ty
viewing and sound for their
situation." says Gonzales.
"Families have enough
problems today: televi '.on
should be one less family
argument."
EMF sells some of the
best-known, top quality
