I recently had cataract surgery,
but my doctor has suggested still
another procedure which
involves a transplant of corneal
tissue. I am reluctant to do so,
but my eye is still not what it
should be. What do you know
about this?
A study in October's Archives of
Ophthalmology underscores the use
fulness of epikeratophakia, the sur-
gical implantation of corneal tissue,

IONA LEMONS
Funeral services were held
Tuesday for Iona Lemons, 78,
of 1006 S. Grand, Gainesville.
Services were held at the
Vernie Keel Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Forrest Bohlen of
Calvary Baptist Church
officiating. Burial services
were held at New Hope
Cemetery.
Mrs. Lemons died Sunday at
home.
She was born August 18,
1908 in Denton County to John
and Mary Elizabeth Embrey.
Jerry Upchurch,
maintenance director for the
district, presented the board ‘
with an update on construction
and renovation.
The board was advised that
a stock tank was being dug
near the Ag building at the
new high school. Water was a
problem around this area
because there wasn’t any. With
this stock tank, water will not
have to be hauled from another
location to water animals.
When students are dismissed
for long holidays, they will be
able to let their animals out to
graze in the area of the stock
tank so that they will have
plenty of water.
The board also discussed
moving the weight equipment
from the boy's dressing room
to the old visitor dressing room
and updating this to double as
a girls dressing room, when not
in use by the boys. The only
facilities the girls have at this
time is at the high school
gymnasium.
Although no action was
taken on these matters, the
discussions were interesting
and informative. The
administration and school
board welcomes input of the
community, so if you have any
ideas on the topics discussed,
let them know!

monthly 11, 1986, in the board room of approved. The monthly bills v ”
were approved, and the
substitute teacher list was
updated.
Superintendent Jim
Coulston briefed the board on
several policy matters that are
of concern to him. These
include use of school property
by the community, a new
discipline policy to follow the
guidelines established by
Congress' special session, and
the teacher supplemental
evaluation.
System wide facility usage
poses a problem in that with
various groups using the school
facilities, such as the
gymnasium, football field,
baseball field, etc., many times
problems arise for which no
one takes responsibility.
Superintendent Coulston
would like to develop a policy
so that when an individual or
organization rents the school
facilities for an event, there is
always a responsible party in
attendance. The school district
will strive to continue letting
the community use the
facilities as they have in the
past.
In other matters, the school
board and administration
discussed the naming of the
new elementary school on
Keeton Rd. The fact was
mentioned that in keeping with
past Sanger tradition, the
school would not be named
after a local citizen, because
there are so many people
worthy of the honor, and it
would be hard to choose one
person. Several possible
solutions to the school name
issue were discussed, among
them, having a school wide or
community-wide contest to
be chosen.
