Several Howard Payne track-
men will be defending state-
wide ratings this weekend •
when the Yellow Jackets trav-
el to Austin to take part in
the Texas Relays..
Milton Plagens Jr., a junior
from Wall,; will lap his best
220-yard dash time in the state
on the line against a strong
field of sprinters expected at
the annual meet. Plagens'
wind-aided clocking of 20.8
still stands as the best in Texas
for the current cinder cam-
paign.
Another Jacket who will be
trying to protect a top rating
in state-wide competition will
be HPC co-capain Junior Lee
of Cross Plains.
According to statistics re-
leased recently, Lee still holds
the No. 2 time in the two-mile j
run for Texas competitors with
a 9:07.2.
In the three-mile run, Lee
also holds down the state's
No. 6 slot with a 14:19.0, a
time he posted during a Fort
Worth meet at the outset of
the season. 4 :
